There are two cracks in the stone producing a dark "X" pattern which is also visible in the bumper photo as well.

Yes. That is what frank is talking about. Those are the break marks

Notice the position of the heart stone is different in my 2 photos. It was removed to get closer shots of the stones around it then put back in a different position

As always evidence is presented and you the jury decide what you choose to believe. If you already made your mind up before hand your service on the jury is in question. You can always be a defense witness.

Lol! too funny Frank!

I was at the museum today, and the stones looked 100% fabricated with a rotary tool. I think Ryan's conclusions are correct. And car models, glue claims, hose claims, and car model claims are simply immaterial. This was a con job from day one, so none of that other stuff matters.

Aha. A new witness on the case.

Homar that is also possible. Already repaired before rediscovered. A crime lab study on the glue would be interesting. Assuming it was only repaired one time in its history.

The late Jim Hatt had suggested the dating of the glue, but I don't think it has ever been done.

Homar

I think that if the stones were up on a bumper at some gas station it was so they could be displayed to be sold.

Tumlinson or his accomplice were just waiting for a gullible person to come along to buy them.

I completely believe that the Stones were bait to a financial scam. What has not been uncovered is: What was it that they were chasing? I believe at this juncture they BELIEVED to have found something however, did not have the proof needed to get the financial backing, so they did the next best thing; created proof that would look to be compelling. The question is not the stones for me. The question is, WHY were the stones created, and WHAT did they discover (or think they had discovered)? A cave of Gold Bars perhaps?

I see you watched video 6 more than once :)

Frank, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet with you today and shake your hand. I had a dog howling and barking all night in the room next to mine at the Valley Ho Hotel last night, and was too tired after we got done for the day to do anything but go to my new hotel.

I just re read a letter from Robert T to Garman where RT stated he could not afford a last trip. Could not find a $ backer. He also stated they were looking for gold coins and treasure he believed the Peraltas buried for the King. It's a long interesting letter. In the end Garman found something. It's not clear exactly what. Perhaps Dave may want to jump in.

I honestly had an open mind about the Peralta Stone maps prior to Ryan making his case, and seeing them for myself. Now I do not, the verdict is in for me.

I sincerely hope those who have clung to the idea the stone maps were genuine and lead to something significant will find a way to let go of them and move on to other things more based in reality.

dam, i thought RT was a drunkard and didnt get in the Smtns much
way to many accounts of this that and the other, makes it all suspect

Homar,

The museum is unlikely to authorize any testing of the stones or the glue. The Stone Maps are on loan to them. When the suggestion to test the glue was presented to the museum, by Jim, I was told they turned it down.

Good luck,

Joe

I've just added a poll to this thread concerning the validity of the stones.

All votes are confidential.

Make sure to take part!

Edit - I've just emailed TnMountains. I'd like all the options to read Travis. Option 3 says Tumlinson. Hopefully tnM or another mod can fix that for me.
