Off to be a lizard...

BUT...With no sun... and... indoors.

So... sorta lizard like... in at least the laying around position.

Here's a snapshot of our local weather going forward. They were calling for 5 or 6 days in a row of rain but we catch a break on the weekend hopefully I can sneak in a bit of detecting.

I told my buddy to finish working on his parents roof of the farm house for Sat. The 200' waterline trench can wait for another day-the beans are off two of my sites-so I might go detecting instead for a little while also. :headbang:

I had a pet Iguana named Iggy once. Would really freak out the room mate that slept on a floor matteress-he'd wake up and Iggy would be staring him in the eye.

Man he a really good girly scream it seemed.:laughing7:

Good luck, be careful, and stay warm. I hope you get one!

Thank you!
I am a wreck.
What may be the biggest buck I've seen in a half century gave me a show.
I all but shot him.....Just couldn't get the precise desired crosshair placement. A foot closer to me and the grass would have allowed seeing what I needed to. No regrets! Well , I wonder if I had mowed that area like I have the past years , if he would have used the area still...)

Then later a doe came out on the other side of the area I watch , and posed seductively. I practiced aiming instead of shooting her. Less shaky than with the earlier buck , for some reason....
She got to studying the jungle near her and scurried off. (She'd come off a major deer highway of sorts through heavy cover. Not that there are many deer , but they like that edge back in there to travel through.)
I was ready for a fawn, or a buck ,or "that" big buck to pop out. Other doe should have joined her already. But were still a possibility.
A little shaver four point buck did instead. But , the antler point restriction is off for the disabled hunt. And I don't have a four point in the collection. Plus , his antlers look like a European roe deer or something...

I practiced aiming again. Shot placement.. I don't need the practice really but do need to control shaking on legal targets sometimes. An adrenalin thing till calming down. A human needs to get excited about something sometimes to keep alive, l.o.l.. But control needs to be in there too..
He checked out where I put some scent last week. Then be-bopped up to around thirty yards from me to pose , seductively too...
Left him alone. He wandered off towards the lane the bigger buck was beyond the end of earlier. (And where I checked out antler rubs on the alders last week) .
Another deer was in the shooting lane. Too dark to be sure it was the earlier doe.

A great evenings hunt. Clean hands. No hard work following a kill.
Just a busy mind now...
My trend has gotten to being a watcher out there in recent years more than anything. Not a crime.
A deer might come home eventually. But I'll be alright if one don't.
Do like some venison meat on reserve come winter. A long standing tradition in my youth. But , have twenty bucks to buy some beef today too...

Where I grew up they had a term. "Buck fever"
I'm not implying that's what you had, but many hunters experience a bit of it.
Have a cousin that got it bad, we went up to where he got a really small one.
12 empties laying on the ground, all 308 cal.
Uncle said that the little thing probably died of a heart attack-with all that shooting.:laughing7:

Oh , I get excited.
But , putting my shot precisely takes my mind off the excitement.
I've missed deer in my youth from being too cranked up.

Tonight I just needed to see more than a head and about a foot of neck in the grass.
And due to not wanting a less than fatal (and A.S.A.P. deer down) shot, I had to hold off...
But...Jerk the trigger or lift my head and a small target like that neck is a no go. It can move between the time my brain says go , and my finger gets the message.
I can shoot paper well enough. But with deer I don't want an error. The rifle I had with me is more than capable , and is dialed in for max. point blank range.
(A fourteen inch tall target from the muzzle to 360ish yards holding dead center scores a hit within). That's about 2 3/4 inches high at a hundred yards. And considers the rise and fall of the particular bullet in between range from muzzle to 360 ish. So at a hundred , consider the just shy of three inches high above by holding that much below for a dime sized target. Add excitement , and look for a deviation making the biggest area around spot being aimed at. Center of lungs for example. Without seeing backline and belly line , I had no reference for a center hold top to bottom. Let alone holding an inch low of it .

The deer don't deserve a hail mary shot. And my butt has not interest in chasing a wounded one in the swamp. It's the type swamp that a prior neighbor needed an emergency rescue crew and police to fish her out when she got too near , trying to get one of her dogs to go home and she sank in the muck.
That's no place for me these days.

Last years deer just jumped in the air and flopped over. As precisely intended. And held out for , a legal shot , but more importantly ;one within my ability and limitations of shot placement just in case I bobbled.

So several days ago, I ordered several items to gear up for election day. A trump 2020 banner, a Trump flag, and a really friggin' cool hoodie from Nine Line Apparel. (I've actually been to the place) So anyways, the banner arrived yesterday, and now it hangs above our garage. The flag came today, and when I opened it, inside was a Biden 2020 flag. Huh? Apparently they had an excess of Biden flags, so they sent me one to unload their stock. Needless to say, I asked for a refund.

:laughing7:
