Season "3" of Curse of Oak Island

With next week's episode looking at potential Aztec ties to Oak Island, the show is officially off my watch list. I'm disappointed in myself for watching this long. With the brothers not starting the show until after 7 hears of working on the island and finding nothing, all we are seeing is re-enactments of their previous fruitless endeavors. With Curse of Oak Island going the way of the Superstition Mountains show, time to look for another cable channel. And let's hope we don't see a show featuring the make believe Templar tunnels in Nova Scotia.

I agree with you, bring back Rebel Gold.

I finally registered today on TreasureNet. I felt guilty about reading the Oak Island threads over the past couple of years… and never joining. Howdy to all !!!

With the brothers not starting the show until after 7 hears of working on the island...

If you take time and read about the history of the Laginas beginnings on Oak Island, and then the A&E television show…. you will discover that the Curse of Oak Island series was not “theirs” to start when they wished. A television production company approached them out-of –the-blue between 2010 and 2011... asking if they would agree to doing a series about the island. The brothers said “No; not interested”.

The production company was sooooo certain they had a hit series in the making, they then made up a pretend short… about the proposed series… and sent the video to the brothers. After seeing how the show was intended to be presented, they finally agreed to do it.

Starting with season 3, I have resorted to DVR’ing the episodes; so I can FF through a lot of filler and lead-up material. This is the only way I am able to still enjoy watching the show.

Thanks for reinforcing my point. After 7 years of digging and finding nothing, they then agree to allow a TV show to be made about their situation which reenacts things they did over the previous 7 years. The TV show allowed them to recoup some of their losses. Nothing more to see on "The Curse of Oak Island".....move on.

This makes you wonder if this is a serious current quest or if they are just doing scenes to show where they have been even today.

Happy to have you Mike, can you sing like freddie?

nothing like him. :)

from my easychair online research of the Laginas, I believe their purchase of half of Oak Island was more a hobby purchase; something they always wanted.

For example, If I had the money... I would buy the Spruce Goose and house it along with a collection of cars & motorcycles. I would eagerly do this - knowing that I could never actually fly the airplane; I would just like having it... puttering around the beast and exploring it's build & such.

I don't think the Laginas had intense exploration in mind originally. But when approached by a company that said "we'll foot-the-bill for serious exploration if you allow us to produce a television series about it"... this is when the brothers grew beyond a hobby interest of the island.

The Laginas have a lot of respect for Dan Blankenship. And I can only guess that part of their initial "not interested" decision to the production company... was to shelter the 90+ year old Blankenship. It's not mentioned all that often on the show, but Oak Island is Dans sole residence. I don't know how many here would like a television crew running around their property; especially if I was elderly and fragile.

Despite all this; I am not thrilled about season 3. I originally thought there may have been some treasure found, and a TV series would be carefully crafted to reveal what led up to the discovery... and how they extract further from there. Instead, I am believing that there was no treasure "pre discovery"... and very likely will never be. I've got to say though, that because of the Oak Island show... I was elightened on the tools available today for treasure hunting. The rover from last week was a cool device; espeically with it having sonar along with the video.

Speaking of the rover... was a determination made that the walls of the 10x chamber naturally formed or not? I don't remember any comments made on whether there were any "hack marks" noticed on the walls. I guess it matters what the original thoughts were on the 10x chamber; was is a natural chamber that was also a convenient place to store treasure in... or was it carved out for this purpose ?

Mike, nobody including myself can write better comments then # 286. As stated before, I believe the story from the beginning including the money pit, and the tunnels and the dead body. The brothers would had given up years ago if they did not receive money support for their project and personnel expenses, including the heavy machines. Tonight will be another boring show, I may just watch my cat Tippy taking a nap.

The chest and dead body theory was proven to be nothing during the last episode where the rov revealed the chamber in 10x contained nothing but items that had fallen down during the years of construction.

I disagree with # 271, yes there are chests of coins and jewels and a dead body, and tunnels that will flood any attempts in removing treasures.

I have it on good authority ( my gas filled gut) that they will hit it big tonight!!!

I like the last expert advice tonight. I now believe that now the money pit was a mine, but the expert did not told what was mine and by who. Stay turn for many years to comes.

I just wonder how many more theories are going to be thrown into keeping the show on the air? The 10X hole was a bust, the stones were pretty much nothing, and now we have the Aztecs. Much ADO about nothing.

I think a gangsta rap group Buried the treasure

H+O spells Ho !

I was very happy to see they now have disclosed the strategy for actually digging the pit. This freezing the ground is proven technology they used it here in Hong Kong when digging the underground railways and have a water problem. It is very effective.e I so really hope that they do dig.

The problem of course is have they located the actual money pit. Was that core sample really Chapels vault or just refuse of other digs. I am not surprised there probe showed them nothing. We already know the vault had a hole drilled in the roof (that is how it was found by Chappell) so it must of filled up with water and mud after 50 or so years.

I am now intrigued as to how they intend on establishing if this is the actual pit. I imagine it would be digging more holes close to the one where they got a core sample.

I saw on last nights show they have their own drill rig sitting there so I imagine digging more holes is relatively easy now. The answer to the mystery lies in the pit is my view..

All that stuff re the Aztecs was just silly. The idea that these people sailed millions of miles up the coast an then found a small island and carried out a major excavation to bury treasure leaving no evidence that they were here is just beyond belief. That guy was a looney I think. the logic as to where to dig was just crazy and made no sense. The statement that every civilization worshipped a cross of some sort is just plain BS.

I am happy they are reaching out to Nolan as he might have some interesting insights into finding the answer to the mystery.

I too do not understand those members that just complain and rubbish the show. It is extremely interesting to see all the history behind this mystery. I just hope they do resolve to dig the pit and answer the mystery once and for all.

Interesting article.. I will wait to see what is discovered in that "ancient wreck" before believing it. The idea that the sword was brought over later is also plausible. ie it may have been with the Templars treasure for example.

That guy seemed to have some pretty weird theories when he was on the show before. He now is simply trying to cash in on the shows fame. The chain of possession of that sword and where it was found seems pretty undocumented. If that wreck is only in 25ft of water it seems like somebody would of dived it to confirm whether it was Roman or not.

I guess that it seems to me that if they are so sure there is something down there that they would just make the hole wider because if there was something there they would need a bigger hole to remove it anyway because 27 inches just isnt gonna cut it.
