Season "3" of Curse of Oak Island

Perhaps. :) The Laginas have been kicking rocks over on Oak Island for ten years, so the first seven summers were not filmed and television was not on their radar. According to an interview with them, they were approached to do the show...turned it down...were convinced to let them be filmed so a mock-up trailer could be shown so they could see what the producers had in mind...decided it was okay. Are they getting benefits from the show? One would hope so, but that's gravy. They (and the rest of the investors) are not poor. This is the way they spend their summers, show or no show.

Well noted, iMatt25. The Lagina's personal investment into O.I. pre-dates the TV gig. This is an inconvenient truth for some who question their motives, but, for me, it gives Rick and Marty credibility above and beyond that of the show.

Nooooo, it's called they waste money on this farce for years before realizing it was all a hoax. Then they decided to get paid to pretend to continue the hunt. Think about it, what they really done in this show? Show some lunatics with crazy theories. Travel around to other places to follow up on those stupid ideas, swing a metal detector, dig a few test holes and fill them in....

they haven't done any real new exploration at all in this show.

it was meant to be a permanent cover for something that Frightened them.
Now that is an interesting take on the whole mystery... Maybe the thing that was hidden on oak island was never meant to be recovered.... maybe Chapels vault is actually Pandora's box.

I have no difficulty believing that these brothers are doing this out of interest and do want to find out the truth of it. If I was very rich I could see myself doing this. What an adventure...

Personally though I would just be looking for the actual pit and drilling it to see if there was something there...

If I was so Obscenely rich that I could own the whole Island,
I would still not bother with the Pits.
Or any area that has been ripped up already.

I'd stick to all areas above water level only.
except maybe the Swamp as a last resort.
if My money could buy off the enviro nuts, I'd doze the swamp
and sift the Dirt.

Good point. Perhaps doing the show they hope to recoup some of their losses?

...Then they decided to get paid to pretend to continue the hunt.

A possibility. For me, they seem legitimately interested in finding something. Dan Blankenship is 92 years old; if the Laginas are just acting to cash a check rather than really trying to get some answers before he dies, then their declarations of respect and their inclusion of him in the process has fooled me. Keep in mind this is a treasure hunting show on The History Channel, not an ABC production of Marvel's Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. History wants cheap shows to air and make a profit. I'd be surprised (though I am curious) if the Lagina's make enough from the show to make them care.

I get where you're coming from here. At times it feels like they are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, made worse by the editing that insists on book-ending each commercial break with the same footage to draw it out. As a noob to the specifics of Oak Island, I've enjoyed the overall narrative of the show. I like the Laginas. I like seeing modern tech used to try and get new information. I even like the half-baked theories. As for actually finding anything... yeah, it's been rough. Did you happen to see the interview the Laginas gave in the show before this new series aired? They honestly thought that with their experience, money, and knowledge they were going to crack Oak Island within a year or two. They soon realized that the geology of the island combined with the way the Money Pit area was trashed over the years has made exploration far more difficult than they imagined. I was not as excited about digging up the Heddon shaft as they were, but in retrospect finding an actual landmark on the island would be very helpful. June through September is about the extent of the weather window to move stuff around Oak Island, so...yeah, it's a slow process. There is speculation they are not even legally allowed to make another deep dig like the Money Pit unless something man-made is officially found down below. Unless they find something tangible with these baby steps on the show, we may never see them "go Roman" on the Money Pit.

New exploration: (1) 3D scans of 10-X; (2) Core sample near Money Pit that seems to verify older core samples of wood and concrete below; (3) Attempt to drain the swamp. They have also tried small test digs based on theories that are out there.

All that being said, The Curse of Oak Island could turn out to be a big nothingburger. I've watched worse television. :)

wouldn't a coffer dam only help from one direction unless it was a moat
so deep (100 Miles deep maybe ? so) no matter how much water seeped/rushed in, you still have time to Dig a 100 foot or more into the Ground and build tunnels ?

Just asking

The tunnels are already there make by pirates when they buried their treasures. I believe the story, but, I do not believe with the water problems, no treasures will be recover. Good digging Brothers.

Maybe the next show, all the treasures will be recovered, and we can go back in watching other TV shows. I miss Rebel Gold. It would be nice if the brothers become members here, and write daily comments. I believe that whole story from the beginning including the boys find a hole with chains on the tree branch, and that the pirates did not want other pirates dig up the treasures, so they dug tunnels so when other pirates try to dig up the treasures, the water pit flooded and not recovered of treasures. The brothers must dig out the money pit, but never recovered treasures as stated before here. There are many rocks with writing on them that show where the treasures are buried. Then the fact is that the island is perfect location to hid and buried treasures, and I believed that many pirates buried treasures on the island but not our good friend, Captain Kidd. I do not believe that this story is a hoax or a farce, as many members believe. All of the members are entitle to their opinions, even when they are wrong. Let us not forget a machine showing at least one chest and let us not forget a dead body. May this person be in Heaven with the Lord. This show will drag on for many more years. We should take turns where only one person watch the show and give reports . I do believe the History channel is paying the digging expenses and the brothers and their staff personnel expenses..

See, here's what I don't get. Why the need to call folks lunatics? Why do that? Why the need to label those ideas expressed by others as "stupid"? I will agree with you in that I don't believe a number of them; nevertheless, they are based on folks who have a passion for something and who are obtaining knowledge in their searching. The exchange of these ideas is what makes things interesting and allows others to question and wonder. There are any number of folks who watch this show for any number of reasons. Some for entertainment value alone. Some for the treasure hunting aspect. Some, like me, who do so to see if there is anything of historical value that may show up to give us even more knowledge as to just who was here in this province and when. The reasons are endless. When discussion descends into derision, I must admit to having difficulties in seeing how that benefits anyone. I do believe there is something on this island that shows the deliberate hand of man in a manner that is beyond mere clearing and construction of settlements. What that is I do not know; hence the mystery.

The chest and dead body theory was proven to be nothing during the last episode where the rov revealed the chamber in 10x contained nothing but items that had fallen down during the years of construction.

With next week's episode looking at potential Aztec ties to Oak Island, the show is officially off my watch list. I'm disappointed in myself for watching this long. With the brothers not starting the show until after 7 hears of working on the island and finding nothing, all we are seeing is re-enactments of their previous fruitless endeavors. With Curse of Oak Island going the way of the Superstition Mountains show, time to look for another cable channel. And let's hope we don't see a show featuring the make believe Templar tunnels in Nova Scotia.

Aztec ties ? no different then Templar ties.
I won't be surprised if they claim the Aztecs that were there were also Templars :BangHead:
I'm starting to miss Larry,Moe & Curly .

Seriously though if I can stick out the Templar B.S. I can stick through pretty much any scenario
that pops up :laughing7:

I agree with you pertaining to Jason, # 263, and surprise that it was not taking down. There are rules against insults and harassment. I believe the whole story including the boys finding chains on a tree above the money pit. I believe the the pirates dug tunnels were dug for other pirates not able to dig up the treasure. There are treasures there, but because of the flooding problems, no treasures will be recovered.

and pray tell HOW did they dig them?

I would have bought a carribean island, they could have made more from lost bellybutton jewelry than from oak island

I'm leaning more towards Ant People.
who else could build Tunnels and Know how to divert water when needed

If I was very rich, I would not need to search for this treasure or wasting my money in hope of finding treasures more then my expenses.
