The Tumacacori Treasure Room and Mines

ALLO Corporal Bill & Capt Bugs: Only if you don't know the truth. The truth is T A Y O P A .

Don Jose de La Mancha

And I still can outshoot, out spell, and outfly you, but may be a bit weak in typing heheh. About that cup of coffee??

You both have the spelling wrong. It is TAPIOCA!

Captbil is it possible for these Tunnels to run up to say four miles from the mission. Would it also be common for these tunnels to be " all " Connected underground. Has anyone ever seen or heard of any such case at any location " Mission ". Also one very important Question that I ask before but never got an answer. Would it be common practice for them to use traps along these tunnel systems under the Missions.

This thread is way off topic now. No wonder though as it was started with a grand claim by the thread starter back on Rememberance Day 2007. I remember reading it back then (being duely impressed) and thinking WOW! because I was new to this site. Now after lurking for some time and recently becoming active in some threads that interest me some things are coming clear. Some are here for the reason the site was started and some, well, just aren't.

Several people replied with interest to stilldign's willingness to show a map and how he deciphered it. As I'm a noobie just learning about trail markers, signs and the people that left them I too am VERY INTERESTED to see a real treasure map and its successful deciphering. Surely after all this time and the many many other projects on the go stilldign has by now found the time to retrieve this treasure and live the rest of his life in paradise. Right? Well, right?

Victorio,
No. There are no tunnel systems that run for four miles. If you find a WELL worked mine system that has been severely stoped (Google: STOPE), that have several false floors, it may be a couple of thousand feet up-down-sideways-etc. The biggest problem would be providing fresh air. Even today, the very deep mineshafts require MUCH more than hand fed or horse fed air.

Guys......what a hell of a topic. Seems to me that we are all over the page on this one, so let me respond to a few all at one time here and try to group them up in a manner understandable to all.

First of all, I've been a member of quite a few forums on different subjects and I have found that resorting to name calling does nothing more than reduce the size of the forum members. Hell, we all have opinions......why not take them as such...just opinions. I LOVE this forum, mainly because of all the information that is plunked down by the various members. Ain't nothin like a good treasure tale!

As for Cptbill and his choice of weapons to carry in the field, I can see where he might want to do so in an area that is prone to have it's share of "baddies" who might want to mess with ya. He probably carries all those weapons just in case he finds those "partners" he's looking for. Ain't nothin wrong with havin a dead eye expert who knows his weapons at the top when you are at the bottom of a mine shaft. Bill likes to carry a .44 Mag Revolver on his hip (damn good place for it) when in the field. Personally, I like to carry a Glock .40 with a couple of extra clips. It's all a matter of personal choice really. Hell, if I had the guns I used to have, I'd probably have them all along for the ride also......just in case anyone else decided they wanted to tag along.

I've loved reading Mike's (gollum) post quite a bit, always full of good information and fun to read. I also like the pics he is willing to share and some of his insight into this wonderful hobby that intrigues us all.

This topic has been a fun one to read with all the different insights, and opinions, involved. Hopefully one day we will be able to all meet and sit down together over a cup of coffee (I like mine 100% Columbian fresh ground beans) or a few adult beverages (Crown or Margarita's would do) and have a heck of a time swappin old war stories!

Hate to take exception with ya here ole buddy, but the S&W Highway Patrol model (Model 28) was chambered in .41 Mag. The reason it was called the Highway Patrol model is because the CHP wanted a round that had more stopping power than the .357 Mag but at the same time was not as punishing as the .44 Mag, which desire S&W fulfilled with the Model 28.

Finally, to all of you who served (myself...U.S. Navy (1965-72), 4 tours (3 yrs. 11 mths.) in Nam), THANK YOU for your service. I would be HONORED to meet with anyone of you anywhere!! ;D

Sorry my friend, it "was" in .357 Mag. I received the first one in Texas, at Kingsville Texas, while in the Border Patrol. In fact I saw a virgin Hi-way patrol in .357 just last sunday at the Tucson gun show. It hadn't had a shot fired in it and the bluing, especially on the cylinder bolt lock notches was untouched. $ 750. with box.

Since possession of the .357 is an automatic 30 years in the Mexican Hilton - reserved for the Mexican Air Force only-I finally opted for a mint S&W .K. 38 Combat Masterpiece with a 4" barrel.

In practical field use, there really isn't "that" much difference between the .357 & the.38 special with156 grn, Kieth semi wadcutters at 1000 fps.

K, back to the rape of the Virgin of Guadalupe's treasures.
