There is no mention in the Beale Papers of such an occurrence. So I will look if you don't mind.

I stand corrected. The box and contents were placed into the author's hand------Page 7 Paragraph 2 Beale Papers. I have not yet found where the box was passed on to JBW, only a manuscript. So now if I can locate where the 'author' lived there is a chance the box is still there unless the box PI found in Southeast Roanoke was the original box.

Well, she told me she had the box and for me to call her back in a few days to see if there was anything else in the box. We shared Christmas Cards for years. A real nice lady. I believe my first hand information more than your conjectures about stories.

...but then. of course, the world famous iron box disappeared never to be seen again along with the Beale letters, ciphers, AND, the original manuscript handed to Ward by the "unknown author".
Need we mention Ellis's missing Beale letter naming all the heirs?
