Found the cabin of browns park lost loot 28k double eagles

Been keeping up with this post going on 5 years

I really would like to know the outcome of this before I cross the River Jordan

Do I need to bring the Jeep to give ya a ride?

I promise to keep my eyes closed ;D

Could be Rutnbuck knows it's better left in the ground for his old age.

Utah1066, Your Okies may have brought their outlaw wages back to IT.
30 plus in different denomination coins were dug in early 1970's.

I would have to ask the same question as I believe that Old Butch would be 147 in April. My Grand father grew up in the same area as Butch & if alive today gram pa would 145.

The old time robbers lived extraordinary long lives. J James finally died at
103, long enough to fly in a plane to NYC. We just can't let go of them.
Billy the Kid was another who just wouldn't stay dead. Ol' Brushy Bill even
hung out with Jesse and Frank. One who didn't was Sam Bass who took
$80,000 from a Union Pacific train. The sheriff of Round Rock, TX shot Sam
and made sure he stayed dead. Other than him the rest all lived out their
lives in the porch rocking chair telling tall tales.

The reason I bring it back to life I was in hopes some one had some great news for me. And I have not found the loot.

Well................. I will have to say this thread makes for some interesting reading! Hard to believe it's been ongoing for 5 years now.

Although I am from "back east", I have hunted in the Browns Park area on several occasions over the years and am somewhat familier with the landscape. Fished Green River back in the '80's, put in at Flaming Gorge Dam and took out above Brown's Park. Was always facinated with the intriguing beauty. However back in those days, computers were not commonplace, so the story of the Brown's Hole loot was not widely known.

I would like to learn more about this story. Is there printed matter on the subject? What is the most accurate account? Rest assured, at my age and physical ability, there's no way I am interested in launching a ground search, but instead, just enjoy a good story.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

I think I read about this story years ago in a book called "Some Dreams Die" by George Thompson. If you are still looking, then I'd be interested in helping. Flaming Gorge is a fun place to Scuba dive and it wiould definitely make for a fun adventure.. Keep us posted on your quest.

My thoughts were Some Dreams Never Die. But yes George Thompson indeed.

Rutnbuck you have found treasure. You found this hobby that brings us all here and you bought yourself a metal detector and have been learning how to use it. You recognised that a resevoir that has been drained is a great place to look for goodies and you've found a few. You've learned how to research potential sites and are getting out and looking whenever you can find the time. That's what most all of us do and the huge majority never find any huge stash of money that will allow us to quit our "real job" and that's ok. It's the thrill of the hunt that makes us do it. Good luck and be happy with what you've already found.

Yeah there is a bunch of elk roaming here maybe they ate it.

Man, I would love to have an elk antler to cut up for some knapping tools. Anyhow, good luck with your search and I sure hope you the best.
Hey man send me a email and I will see what I can do this summer to get you an elk antler
