Enough already. You guys think you know everything. Ha (not) Do you know where the cabin is. I don't think so. LOL
Any way new news. I was going to prolong suspense by not posting but wth. I do have new info. I talked with James Fariello he has a ton of history on the cabin. He told of a couple guys that went looking for it years ago. Those who don't know James well he has wrote many of treasure book and has done a ton of research on the cabin. Any way we are going to try and meet up there this fall. He will be coming to the area to hunt. I don't know who knows more about it now me or him but he talks a lot more then I do! We could talk non stop for a month. Ya know like (women). What is interesting is that what I told him about the finds and what he has researched are like the same thing.
I have a couple detectors now!!! I should be able to locate gold from here to Canada with out leaving my living room. My buddy Bill who originally found the cabin is hunting up there as I type this. I am not sure if he will make it to the cabin site. But I will try and rendezvous with him on the week of Sept. 15. He however has a Mental Disability that lasts about a month out of the year. Ya know he is an Elkoholic.

Rutnbuck don't let them get ya down

This has been my favorite thread for going on 5 years now and

Rutnbuck nows it time for you to come clean with us. Rumor has it, you have spied the 28 K in gold coins and you are keeping things quiet for tax reasons. Rumor has it that you and Bad Back Bill are using the 28 K and your expert treasure hunting skills to find The Lost City Of Gold. Can you confirm the rumors ?

LOL
After reading every post and response to this story...(very interesting) and amusing, that has taken place over a span of several years...I was disappointed that I came to the end so abruptly with the question of "How old is your attorney" ?
I laughed so hard..I got so caught up in the story, the questions, and the ever present delays in retrieving the 28K double eagles..that I barely noticed how old the thread was....WHAT EVER HAPPENED???
I guess I'll never know..but it was a very nice way to spend some time.

If anyone has any updates on this original thread ..please fill me in, inquiring minds wanna know !
thanks...Scott :tongue3:

Since you have the XLT, just use the all metal mode. Prospecting mode is this.. Turn the AC up as high as you can without a lot of chatter. The DC will be set to about half the AC. Get the 15 inch coil for the XLT to be able to get a few feet deep into the ground. Get er done, this has been dragging out for to years already..

I am sorry but I do not need the fame that comes with finding some stolen goverment payroll. In all reality if it has us goverment stamped on it the will clain they still own it and if I found a cash of Gold bars with us whatever stamped on them I would grind that off and have it melted down into gars I could sell and I would also sell off the metal shaving from cleaning up the bars. As far as anyone would see is one bar on here and nothing about a 24 thousand or 100 thousand dollars cache from back in the day. :icon_thumright: as in the double eagles every collector out there is looking for come in mint condition and any auction house will get you a preminum for them so Search it find it Scope it up and for God sake Shut up about it, or you'll have found a fortune for the government to lay claim to it

I heard somewhere of some double eagles that where stolen and never found and one had turned up to be auctioned and the GOVT. seized it from the auction house Has anyone else heard this story. You have to be careful what you sell and what you find I would try to sell one every 3 -4 years but not to flood the market to suddenly.. Hope this is the cabin if you need a super deep detector I have a Garrett with treasure hound attachment to it. it goes up to 18 " + deep on caches.. HH and good luck God Bless :icon_thumright:

$20 gold coins are legal tender and have no serial #.
They are collectable and valued according to date and condition.
They contain 1 oz. of gold which means they are worth over $1300 each .
I can see no reason that would allow the Gov. to grab them.
If I found some I would sell them 1 at a time at different locations.

I was not crazy until I read this post. I also need many drinks. Was any of these coins found yet?

Rutnbuck,
Who the hell cares what land its on? If I find it, I keep it. Unless of course someone is looking for fame, without the fortune. It's easy to accomplish that, just broadcast your find to the Sheriffs office, the local news paper, the TV station, and by all means the web., and you will have plenty of fame but no fortune. Me, I don't want, nor do I need fame, but fortune.........OH YEA...........

I am with you brother on your qoute. What i find is mine. No one elses.

#174.............. I am happy to make you happy. Take care, and keep your mouth shut.

Production of the 1933 Double Eagles----In an attempt to end the 1930s general bank crisis, U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 6102 in 1933 and the Gold Reserve Act in 1934, which outlawed the circulation and private possession of United States gold coins for general circulation, with an exemption for collector coins. This act declared that gold coins were no longer legal tender in the United States, and people had to turn in their gold coins for other forms of currency. The 1933 gold Double Eagles were struck after this executive order, but because they were no longer legal tender, most of the 1933 gold coins were melted down in late 1934 and some were destroyed in tests. Two of the $20 Double Eagles were presented by the United States Mint to the U.S. National Numismatic Collection, and they were recently on display in the "Money and Medals Hall" on the third floor of the National Museum of American History.

These two coins should have been the only 1933 Double Eagle coins in existence. However, unbeknownst to the Mint, a number of the coins (20 have been recovered so far) were stolen, possibly by the U.S. Mint Cashier. At least nine of these coins, which were illegal to possess, found their way via Philadelphia jeweler Israel Switt, into the hands of collectors.

The coins circulated amongst collectors for several years before the Secret Service became aware of their existence. The matter came to the attention of Mint officials when an investigative reporter looked into the history of the coins he had spotted in an upcoming Stack's coin auction and contacted the Mint as part of his research, as a result of which an official investigation was begun by the Secret Service in 1944. Seven of the coins were discovered and taken by federal agents within the first year of the investigation, with one coin remaining in public possession until 1952. The investigation identified the alleged thief and his accomplices, but the statute of limitations had passed and they could not be prosecuted.

Has anyone heard of this cache being recovered/found?

i am sure it has been found, look back at the posts where he had a guy go out with him with some kind of detector and keep showing him the location. i'll bet my life he found it a short while later when he was by himself and has just keep saying it hasn't been found. thats exactly what i would do!!!.

who me ? no i haven't found anything yet, will let you know when i do
