🥇 BANNER Did I Really Find a War of 1812 British Hat Badge Today!?

Did I Really Find a War of 1812 British Hat Badge Today!?

I was on my way back from working a few days in Ottawa today and decided to stop for a quick 2hr hunt at a site where I've already had some success at finding War of 1812 relics! This site has been pounded to death by at least a half dozen others over the past 4 - 5 years, so I'm happy just to get any scrap of a relic they might have left behind! :laughing7: Well today it seems they left something really big for me to find! I found the large brass cruet stand base first, then the brass harness buckle. There was a ton of trash to get through on this...

🥇 BANNER Civil War Bonanza...Sword, Bayonet, and MORE! Soldier initials engraved!

Civil War Bonanza...Sword, Bayonet, and MORE! Soldier initials engraved!
The other day I shoved off on what would prove to be a very productive and physical three-day camping and digging trip. Covering 35+ miles of water ways my good pal Beau and I had a heck of a trip. We spent many weeks researching and then the day was here to make good on it. I won't give away Beau's finds, though they are comparable and in some regards he most likely made the find of the hunt - though we both did VERY well.

I had a slow day 1 with just a couple of bullets and the early oar lock/holder - and Beau did as well, though he made his best two finds of the hunt on that day. Day 2...

1877 Indian Head Cent - The Big Key Date!
I found this 1877 Indian Head Cent this past Saturday morning on my second visit to a new site.

A colonial-period house once stood at the site which offered easy short cut grass for hunting, but little was found on my first 4-5 hour search a few weeks ago. I recovered a tombac button, a musket ball, a Wheat penny, and a Buffalo nickel. Saturday’s search was offering equally dismal results consisting of a modern dime (several inches deep :BangHead:), a quarter, and a foreign coin recovered over a...

🥇 BANNER 8 Reales Club, I just joined

8 Reales Club, I just joined
Like most of my posts this one starts the same....

Me and ZDD...
started out at 8:30 in hopes of finding something old. The first spot we went to looked good had promise, and was in a fairly good area, etc, but just didn't have it. Dave did get a clock gear there, I never dug a target. Dave got a 90's signal that I checked, and said "could be a 8 reale", turned out to be a brass ring. I said "one of these times it will be an 8 reale".

Next spot, we call "french hill" as Dave got a 1677 french silver there last year, conditions were good better than they had ever been, level, and...

🥇 BANNER Fugio,95 liberty cap, connec and some gold

Fugio,95 liberty cap, connec and some gold
After yesterday's complete bust I figured I would just swing a bit in the backyard. Not expecting to find much because I've been through it many times over the last few years but at least I wouldn't have to travel far. After a bunch of trash I got a strange bounce on the at pro. In the woods it would be a shotgun shell head stamp and I suppose it the parks it would be like a pull tab. Out comes this little 10k ring. I couldn't believe it and hey it's fits. Well it went on but wouldn't come off. Ended up breaking it. Oh well. After that I thought with this kind of luck I should head to my...

🥇 BANNER Incredible Gold Nugget found when detecting

The find of a lifetime for me and on my birthday to boot. Me and Ron Swenson Ron(CA) were out detecting an old site where I have found quite a few small nuggets a couple years ago and this was a huge surprise as I never expected gold to come in as a high conductor. This sounded and ID'd just like a silver coin would. I am lucky that I live in such a great place to detect, here in California's gold country. Every once in a while one of us comes across a big nugget like this while out detecting. The 49'rs didn't have detectors and where they didn't dig, there is still the possibility of...

American Gold Miner's Buckle

Hi All

History Miner's Diary September 1852 Victoria Australia

"The three of us ,having agreed to combine for a trail of the Mt Alexander Diggings , we purchased a cradle ,large tent and tools, and provisions for two months, and gave a teamaster $20 to convey the lot to Fryer's Creek We tramped up with the waggon , making the trip in five days. On reaching Fryer's Creek we found that place crowded and gold being got in large quantities, but we fancied the good ground was all occupied, and, hearing that many were going to Cambell's Creek , we...
