🥇 BANNER 1759 Pistareen and some other bucket list finds

1759 Pistareen and some other bucket list finds
Haven't posted for a bit as I have a computer problem and it's a pain to post from my tablet. Got out last Saturday to a favorite park. Didn't find much, but then again, it depends on your perspective. Found 2 Indians including a nice old 1864. Also found 2 toasted shield nickels and a piece of a small silver spoon or fork. An Indian or shield nickel is probably on a lot of bucket lists, but I've found plenty of both. On Ann earlier visit to this park I had also pulled a few Indians in addition to a nice Barber dime and a couple of shield nickels. Again, bucket list items for many. It's...

🥇 BANNER 1909 S VDB To Go Along With a Handful of Barbers

1909 S VDB To Go Along With a Handful of Barbers
Hey guys! I'm a long time member and regular reader here but I don't post too often, unfortunately. Usually only when something exceptional pops out.

Being predominantly a coinshooter, this one's pretty exceptional :) 1909 S VDB that came out alongside a nice handful of oldies on a great hunt in an out-of-the-way patch of turf.

Here on the west coast we don't get a lot of the good stuff you guys get back east - colonial coppers, large cents, busts, and loads of reales. But at least we get a lot of S mints (and a few more gold coins for the lucky hunters out here).

My second 1909 S VDB...

🥇 BANNER Might be the Creepiest Silver Ring I Ever Dug!

Might be the Creepiest Silver Ring I Ever Dug!
Working a small park today I dug down 4 inches and pulled out probably the creepiest silver ring I've seen. It's sterling silver with nothing but
skulls around it! Also dug a 62 Rosie and 2 wheat pennies in the same area. Adjacent to the grass was a sand box with about $4.00 in gas money, I hit the sand box first
hoping for a piece of jewelry. I was busy with sifting with my sand scoop about 75 coins in the sand, unfortunately no jewelry came out. So it was a good day, nothing spectacular, but any silver is a good day.8-)

🥇 BANNER "Sheet Iron" CS Plate found this weekend!

"Sheet Iron" CS Plate found this weekend!
Boy what a weekend! This place I located is a virgin Confederate cavalry camp I found and have been detecting for a year now. I've found some really nice things there, but this takes the cake. It was super hot and I was digging all iron readings, cause I love iron artifacts. I had dug into a hole and pulled out a piece of a rusted knife, then took my pinpointer and located a second piece. For a third time I took my pinpointer and said to myself, "Hmm...this must be the last piece of that knife." Then, with my shovel, this oval popped out and when I turned it over "CS" was staring back at...

🥇 BANNER Find of a lifetime! Charleston Slave Tag

Find of a lifetime! Charleston Slave Tag
Haven't been on in a while but figured this was worthy of a post! Got off work with the intention of digging some bottles but that didn't work out so I went to plan B. Went by a site I've found some decent relics and coins at. Wasn't going to detect this spot again and almost wrote it off but they had scraped a lil more dirt so decided to go ahead and beep a lil and see what comes up. Well not even 10 minutes in and my Deus rang a sweet sound. Dug about 1 inch and out popped this square piece of metal and didn't think much of it until I rubbed a lil dirt off and saw a bit of "Charleston"...

Naval Officers Buckle 1850s - Rare AMES mfg. variety
Naval Officers Buckle 1850's - Rare AMES mfg. variety

I got out for a quick jaunt this afternoon. The new location I found was a house that had the exterior modified, but surely dated pre-1840's. It had been abandoned and literally had 2-3' weeds, and was almost undetectable. Almost...

First signal was this killer buckle tongue.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1465521781.461153.jpgI searched for a half hour for the other half but no luck. I couldn't get the coil close to the ground for smaller target, so all I caught after that was big targets.

🥇 BANNER FOUND 1st GOLD COIN!!! $5 1910

FOUND 1st GOLD COIN!!! $5 1910
Went out late afternoon after thunderstorms moved through to my new hunting areas. After finding a few memorials, Jefferson nickel, pulltabs and junk with my DEUS I got kind of a broken quarter reading. Quarter reading? Keep in mind Target ID numbers with the DEUS are not very accurate in salt water areas, at least with my experience. Nevertheless I decided to dig a hole hoping for a silver quarter, when pin pointing I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a gold rimmed and during my excitement I called my friend Don-in-Brewster (TNET member) and told him what I found!

I was so excited I...

🥇 BANNER Found my DREAM BUTTON....then found three more!

Found my DREAM BUTTON....then found three more!
I have been detecting for seven years, I've dug a zillion buttons, many old Customs buttons. I have dreamed of digging a North West Mounted Police button since day one. Today it finally happened, and four of them! It's been a while since I had a dug item really stall my brain out and leave me slack jawed haha.

The NWMP formed in 1873 and existed with that title until 1903. In 1874 287 officers made the famous ride West through these parts. This is the outer fringes of the oldest of the old for my area. Not many officers, and for a relatively short time. The land owner told me he knows...
