🥇 BANNER 14K diamond engagement ring from the river!

14K diamond engagement ring from the river!
I got up early this morning and drove to a local river that is extremely popular with tubers. I got on my wet suit, gloves, water boots, and mask and snorkel. The water was cold and the current was insane...kept ripping my mask off my face, but I kept at it, moving upstream by grabbing rocks and fighting the current. I fanned the sediment out of some potholes along the way to my destination, a waterfall about 100 yards upstream from where I started. I found a few things in the potholes, like a glass smoking pipe, a few bottle caps, a couple pairs of sunglasses, and 1 penny. Then as I put...

🥇 BANNER Solid Gold Watch With Family Connection!

Solid Gold Watch With Family Connection!
I was detecting in a small park in Bangor, Maine the other day and got a very deep quarter signal. So imagine my surprise when this pops out! IMG_20190726_101020679_HDR.jpgIMG_20190726_101146715_HDR~2.jpg

A ladies' gold watch with the initials "RWT". After getting it home, cleaning it up and managing to pry the back off of it, the owner's name was revealed: "Ruth W. Thomas" IMG_20190727_141116095_HDR.jpg Then under the back cap, the serial number indicates that this watch was made in 1896. Using this data and a genealogy site, I found her! She was born...

🥇 BANNER Back in the Game - 1875-CC Twenty-Cent Piece!

Back in the Game - 1875-CC Twenty-Cent Piece!
Although I had been out detecting often enough, my finds so far this year had come slowly - a trickle off several corroded coppers over the past few months and a worn-out Barber dime. One of the coppers found a few weeks ago was particularly bittersweet; it was a 1795 or 1797 Liberty Cap half cent with lettered edging. Sorry - I didn’t have the heart to post it. Mother Nature and long exposure to New England’s acidic soil had done its worst to Ms. Liberty. Despite my best hopes, the corrosion was too much. :sad1:

On my last outing, I made one stop at an old mill site that offered...

(Buckleboy wasn’t finding anything the whole day long ). It was a long day in some pretty brutal heat. When I got back to the truck I was changing out of my boots and looked over and saw something gold...

Revolutionary War "Penobscot Expedition " gold coin found
Hey folks my last post on here was way back in 2013 and sorry 4 being AWOL here. Life happens. Anyway I am in my 23rd year of relic hunting my REv WAr site here in Maine . U may remember me for posting a silver shoe buckle frame I found on the beach that once belonged to Cpt John Hinkley . On the 16th of May was working a hot spot that has produced much American ordnance . Google 'Trask Rock" for a 8 minute video of history in Castine , Maine. Had a great day with finding 4 large grape shot. Spent 5 hours on the hunt and happy with the results. Just dug a pull tab some other THer had left...

🥇 BANNER GW Button!!!!

GW Button!!!!
Decided to take another shot at finding an 1862 dot in the park woods. What is interesting about this dot is that it disappears on the 1872 map and the aerials in the 1900’s show nothing but woods. I had tried a couple of times with my old detector with nothing but an occasional shotgun shell head stamp.

Today I wandered in the same area and got 2 quick cuff flat buttons and a partial big tombac button. These were really small 11-12 signals with the Nox.

🥇 BANNER Thank God That I Didn't Hit It!

Thank God That I Didn't Hit It!
I got a early start this morning at the 1853 home site permission. I've pounded this site really super hard with my CTX 3030, Equinox, F75DST, CZ3D, and Deus detectors. I've pulled string lines to make sure that I'm getting my search coils over every inch of ground. Keep in mind, with every detector I'm digging all repeatable non-ferrous targets regardless of ID. I'm going back over all of it again with my Tesoro detectors and I'm still finding lots of targets....
