🥇 BANNER 17th Century Ball Pouch Contents - Colonial Warfare Frozen in Time

17th Century Ball Pouch Contents - Colonial Warfare Frozen in Time
The first find from a few weeks ago came soon enough – a fired musket ball recovered only a five minutes into my search. It was immediately followed by a much-deteriorated lug handle from a copper cauldron dating back to the 17th century. These were promising finds, but further signals proved elusive as I wandered around about the woods for the next two hours or so. I desperately hoped for further indication of an early site that had also seen action during King Philip’s War, a devastating conflict that raged throughout New England from 1675 to 1676. It was a war of annihilation...

I DID IT!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!
I drove to NOLA and the parks were filled with people nobody’s worring about the virus apparently, so I drive along the bayou and came across a grassy field that I’ve driven pass a thousand times but it was just cut so I stopped. I was surprised to see a lot of iron square nails, white shells and brick in the clay. It was hard digging but what the hell. My first find was a brass thing I thought interesting then 1897 V nickel very interesting I was freaking out. Then I found a 1926 buffalo. So I came across more iron square nails which were falsing in the low 20’s. Then I hit a spot where...

🥇 BANNER 1849 Territorial Half Eagle

1849 Territorial Half Eagle
It had been a year since I had been able to hook up with my buddy Strick to do some relic hunting. This day was day 3 of my visit with him and we were off to a private property in the low Sierra foothills of California to meet up with Strick's friend, the ranch owner, and detect an early gold camp. We have been hunting this area for a few years when our schedules will allow. The last time I was here with Strick he had found a Quarter Eagle and some seated coins while I had only found buttons.
On this day things were not looking so great for me as I had only found one nice button and the...

🥇 BANNER Second Seminole Indian War Finds

Second Seminole Indian War Finds
I and several detecting buddies supported a local museum a year ago by metal detecting a Second Seminole Indian War site that was occupied by the 2nd Dragoons from December 1837 to March of 1838. Below is just a sampling of our finds from that area. Many more uniform buttons, musket balls of various calibers and such not shown here came from our hunts.

We suspect that one of their supply boats either sank or capsized since all the finds below were in the same general 25 square yard area. In digging down to retrieve these artifacts, I did hit wood deep in the muck ergo our thoughts that...

🥇 BANNER Civil war Sword found

Civil war Sword found
20191215_123857.jpgI found this sword yesterday and was hoping to confirm it being a U.S cavalry .
I found it on a rock outcrop overlooking the river on my property . it was only in the ground 2'' deep and overloaded my machine with an iron tone.
I took these pic with my phone as soon as I figured out what it was.
I 'm seeking advice on how to clean or preserve it.
keep in mind it is stuck in the scabbard and soaking may not work because it can't be rinsed properly I have it setting in the area of the woodstove in an effort to remove all the moisture.
dig those...

🥇 BANNER SUPER RARE piece of local history

SUPER RARE piece of local history
I can’t even put in to words how excited I am. Went out to that permission today Broken_detector, and I’ve been digging lots of goodies, and found a Banner worthy find. The medal I found was worn on a necklace given out to only 5 women, who were the original 5 sisters of Mercy hospital graduating in 1886. Miss Agnes Gray got this medal some 133 years ago, and I was fortunate enough to find it. The old St. Anne’s Academy is no longer there, but the main church is there. These 5 women took care of the men, women, and children of Fort Smith, AR back in a day when the population was so little...

🥇 BANNER Unbelievable coin day with 36 coppers!

Unbelievable coin day with 36 coppers!
Hello everyone,

It's been quite some time since I've last posted. Up until a few days ago site after site has led to nothing but disappointment. However a buddy of mine got permission to detect a piece of property owned by his friend and invited me along and boy am I glad he did!

On my way him he called me and was practically squealing with excitement. He had gotten to the site ahead of me and already found several coppers. Upon my arrival I met up with him around a rocky ledge on a hillside which was absolutely loaded with coppers!

Between the two of us on the first day we found over...

Smokey n I have been smokin" em with some great finds. We hit up her permission and beat up a productive spot. I started with a civil war era button. I haven't got an ID but South Carolina was suggested. Next to that I got the bullet on the right. I believe its a Sharps. Then I got a minnie ball and a bunch of coal and junk. I was using the Deus HF at 28 and/ or 74 kz. I got into a few more modern bullets. 22 caliber were ringing up 82 and 45 caliber higher. I even got an unfired 30 ot. I thought I had one more 22 bullet until i flipped the plug and saw this beauty looking up at me! No...

🥇 BANNER !!! 1652 Pine Tree Shilling !!!

!!! 1652 Pine Tree Shilling !!!
Almost had a heart attack today when I dug an odd square shaped piece of metal. Looked closer and saw 1652:hello2: and about collapsed. It looks clipped but its near full weight at 4.4 grams. Were these clipped like this at the mint sometimes? I havent done a thing to it other than rinse it off with fresh water. Scared to do anything to it really as it looks to have great details underneath. EDIT: I did q-tip some of the flakyness off on the obverse but Im not going any farther for now
