Hello all. As most of you on the thread I'm new to the site. I am from north alabama and have searched for artifacts off and on most all my life. I Stumbled apon it as I was trying to do some research on an item I found the other day. After reading some the post I found some interesting and helpful. And was hoping to get some help in identifying a few objects. Thank you .

Hi, A real beginner to the MD world and only been out a couple of times, with nothing special to speak of. I'm using a Whites Spectrum XLT which I haven't really got to grips with. I did get a CD with lots of programmes but it fails to say which mode the machine should be (coin or Relic) so having to experiment. Would welcome any advice.

Recently retired from Brit Army and looking forward to finding anything.

Hey all... a little late to the intro game, here. I've been on TNet for a few months now and just neglected to do the intro thing. My name's Al and I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I recently purchased a Garrett AT Pro Int'l and am slowly getting back into the MD'ing hobby. My first detector was a Bounty Hunter TR500 back in the late 70's that was a lot of fun and very frustrating at the same time. I have been a certified diver, and my interest in shipwrecks & wreck diving led naturally to an interest in "treasure" in all its forms, and my MD'ing follows that same path... I'm interested in finding anything, old or new. All the best, GL & HH!

I am a native Texan down South of Houston, Former Lawman and Medical Legal Investigator. Very interested in the lore of Eastern Oklahoma. I am very interested in information on the Dalton gang. I have information I believe may change 120 year old history on the Daltons. I am a virtual searcher for SAM WINGO who disappeared in 1892 and was a former Deputy United States Marshal. Been snooping around and hope I can somehow offer your site information.

Hello to all. After spending most of this morning and this afternoon reading various threads, I decided to register and become a member of the site and hopefully of your community. Metal detecting sound like a great hobby for someone like me that has just retired and is looking for an excuse to get out of the house and get some exercise!

I just purchased a White's Prizm 3 (from E-bay) as my first metal detector and I cannot wait to try it out. I am still learning about the important of scoops and pinpointer, but I guess that I can rely on this site to help me.

Hoping to enjoy my new hobby (and I am sure that I will!) and wil keep you guys up to date with my progress.

Thanking you for all the great information contained on this site.

Hello! I am brand new to hunting! I mean BRAND new! I just recieved my Garrett AT Gold and already found a nail! lol I live just east of Seattle and anxious to start learning my new machine. I hope it's a good one!

Hello from pa I have a question where I live our farm is littered with both giant conglomerate quarts boulders and sand gravel layers 2 ft under the top soil just wandering if it sounds promising to dig to bed rock

Hello everyone, I am Peter (greylion) from South Africa. I am Geologist, have traveled all countries in southern Africa; I know a lot about gold deposits, especially in Zambia. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Hey names Dylan me and my wife just started digging as a new hobby for the both. Of us here in the ky area looking for word to is ring this site for info and inputting some info as well thanks to everyone on treasure net

Back into MD. Twenty eight years ago I sold my land and underwater units. Now I have more time to spend enjoying life.
I purchased a Garrett AT Pro last week. I would have bought a pulse unit but felt the AT PRO would be more versatile
I'm blown away with the loss of our freedom of using metal detectors in some cites and states.
I decided to call a few cities and Counties prior to MD.
So far everything has been okay in Fl for my area.

Amazing how I met a 80 year old MD Pro treasure hunter. He has MD in Port Royal and on the east coast wrecks.
Friday night hopefully I will attend a lecture The Quest for the Queen of Spain's Jewels by Sir Robert Marx.
Have a Great Day enjoy life,
CMan1

Good luck the at pro is a great all around detector. Have fun and enjoy the more time you have to detect.

Hey guys, I don't even own a detector as of yet but have always been interested in the hobby as I live in Central Mississippi and we have several locations to prospect and I have many private areas myself. I was looking at many units and think I have decided on the Fisher F70 based on the fact that I would like an advanced unit rather than a lower end only to end up purchasing an upgrade shortly. I will likely be asking many questions about controls and tech questions but I'm sure that most of y'all are familiar with the new guys questions. Looking forward to this and I am about to post a question about this F70 and for the money...are there any better out there?

Good luck with your choice but asking if there are any better is a loaded question and may start an argument. I've never used and f70 so can't help you there and I'm a Garrett guy so I could only help you on those. Good luck with your choice what ever you get its a fun hobby and bringing the history back to the light is an awesome feeling.
