Welcome to the site! Please post an introduction thread.

I am trk5capt 's daughter, Liz. I have lived in Charleston, SC for 31 years. I enjoy metal detecting and early American history. I grew up digging for slave tags and cannonballs. When I'm not at work, I prefer to be in the boat.

Hello, I'm a newbie. I just bought a metal detector for my husband and one for my daughter for Christmas (shhhh, it's a secret!). They both have everything and don't need a thing, so I thought this would be something cool they could do together. I'd like to know the laws for metal detecting in WV. Any suggestions before we get started?

Should be good to go as long as you stay off federal protected sites. There are a lot of sites that would be fun to hunt there. Lots of history. What a great wife you are. My wife lets me pick my own Christmas stuff so I guess I'm lucky also.

New guy here in Arizona

:goldbar:Hello All, My name Is Damen I live in northern AZ and am fairly new to detecting well with a decent detector any way. I just received a garret gti 2500 for my 40th from the wife and so far love it but am still getting used to it. Is it a good model to learn on or good at all? I know garret is a decent brand but she really surprised me with it always wanted on but just couldn't seem to come up with the extra money. Any how hope to make some new detecting buddys on here thanks

The 2500 has been around for a while and has proven itself so you have a great detector. Watch YouTube videos and learn as much as you can. You have a great tool to start detecting with.

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I've been detecting for 3 years in and around Delaware. I'm looking for a new place to see others' finds, show my own and share info / stories.

Welcome to the best site for that purpose. Plus you can get some help or help someone else when needed.

Hi all, I'm another newbie and just got me an AT PRO, hope to some old coins and walk off some weight, Massillon, Ohio.

Evening folks. Kind of new to the site. I'm from NH, been prospecting close to 3 years. Got all the toys, pans, tools, sluices (4) and getting ready to order a 2 1/2" dredge ( Christmas gift to myself). Got some good info from the site, always looking for helpful info. Most of my prospecting is up on the wild Ammunoosic. Do some metal detecting
but really like looking for gold.

Hey from Winston Salem NC!! Brand new to the forum. Go detecting all the time on off days from the fire department. Would be nice to have a buddy to go with and share some of my spots. Thanks for your time!!

Man wish I was closer I would go lots of history there. Good luck.

Hi, I am a beginner treasure hunter. I have some old areas by me that really interest me and an attraction to old coins.
I got this crazy notion to excavate a filled in abandoned well recently. I have a tripod, winch and harness to lower down inside once all the rock is removed. It might sound crazy but has anyone one here ever done something like this?

Sounds like your having fun and that's what this hobby is about plus it gets you out in gods country instead of indoors watching tv. Good luck
