More than likely the father of our Robert Morriss. I have his family, going way back. I don't have every name, or all the dates.

I may have even found our Robert Morriss in the 1860 census, but I'm not sure.

Actually, the father of our Robert Morriss was Thomas Morriss. If anyone cares.

Our Robert's mother was named Sarah Garner. His grandmother was Mary Hall (she was formerly married to a Hall).
Our Robert had three sister, and no brothers.
His sisters:
1. Susannah (married Adam Mitchell, probably brother of Sarah Mitchell).
2. Letitia (married George Curtis).
3. Leanna.

Our Robert's father, Thomas was 1/2 brother of Robert Morris, signer of the DOI. Robert's (DOI) mother died in England when he was small. His father, Robert SR. immagrated to Oxford, MD, where he was later joined by his son, Robert. Robert SR remarried (Mary Hall) and had 2 sons, one of which was Thomas, the father of our Robert Morriss.

Well, the MORRIS INN in Oxford, MD "on the Bay" still exists & is available for "vacation time"... wife & I are thinking about it, as she is from MD & we BOTH love The Bay; then go to MD Eastern Shore!

There is some disagreements on the grandmother of our Robert Morriss - Mary (Hall), or Sarah Wise? Neither of these possible grandmothers for our Robert Morriss has been confirmed, but the rest I have good evidence for.
 

This is not confirmed, but it seems that Sarah Wise was a common law wife, or Concubine, of the grandfather of our Robert Morriss, and was carrying his father, Thomas, when the grandfather, Robert Sr., was killed (about 1750).

Notes for SARAH WISE:Sarah was generously provided for in Robert Morris Sr.'s will. He left a substancial amount to her (and probably his) daughter "Sarah" and another substantial amount to the as yet unborn child she carried at the time of his death. The unborn child was Thomas Wise Morris Jr., half brother to Robert Morris Jr. (Note: This Robert Morris Jr is the DOI signer.)

If this is true, then the grandmother of Robert Morriss (Beale Papers) was Sarah Wise.

Unfortunately, I'm not near there.
I have already found a lot, but I do need more. I don't trust the Salt Lake Library. I've seen too much they've gotten wrong.
I have just about all these family members and connections, except for Robert Morris Sr's will. I posted a reference to it, but haven't been able to find the actual document. Like you said, it'll probably have to be ordered.

in the 1820s just about every house had one, it would have been an
easy key to send IE: KJV Psalms 1–41

I would imagine that the DOI was prominently displayed at the home and business of Robert Morriss, so maybe the author simply used what he had at hand. That could also be the reason for Beale having used (allegedly) that document as the key. The fact that just about everyone owned a Bible might have been the reason for not using it as the key.

NOTE: Robert Morris Sr had two "partners" Elizabeth Murphat (Jr's mother) and Sarah Wise (Oxford, Maryland) , the mother of Thomas Wise Morris.
Thomas Wise Morris, while born in Oxford, Maryland, died in France, 1778, and from the posted genealogy, unmarried and childless.

It appears that Thomas Morris and Sarah Gardner Morris has only one child, Susannah.
