Just noticed, that last post was #500 hero member. What's the next one?

Congratulations, Idaho and good after noon.

I snagged this from a post Rusty Gold made to someone asking similar question.

You know, RR, you have to pay tribute to all of your friends here when you hit 5000. You better start planning what you're going to do. :laughing9:

Again, I can't take credit. It was originally Rusty Gold's post. I just copied. :tongue3:
'Bout time for the Cap's charter to kick in. I know it takes a week or two.

Good afternoon mateys,

RR, you'll be at the 5k pretty soon, in fact, many here have some time spent posting.
I like this ship, it's got a good crew.

I'll share my story of what brought me to treasurenet, but you'll think I went bonkers.
You might not believe me, or you might.

Do you want to hear it?

Yep Idahodutch,
Let ur fly.

I grew up in Arizona, and was fascinated with the Superstition Mountains, and the legend of the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine.

I did a lot of hiking and camping there. Studied the clues, and searched.
On and off for many years, I would go back to it. My last trip was in 2008, and was able to confirm some crucial pieces of the puzzle.
Here we are in 2020, and google earth has come a long way.
Problem is my hiking days are pretty much gone.

The government made the whole area, a wilderness area, which means no digging, detecting, mining, motors of any kind.
What do you do?

I gave my search results to the Dutch Hunters here on treasurenet.
Talk about a tough crowd.

I think maybe I am the bad guy, for spilling the beans, idk.

When the Dutchman died (Jacob Waltz), there were two main sources of clues that were left behind.
- A woman named Julia Thomas, who was caring for him,
- and the 2 guys at his deathbed.
Waltz had been giving directions to both, but coming to the mine from different starting points.
Both sets of directions go to the same ravine.
Then there are many clues as to what you are able to see from different places around the ravine, specific things.

Idahodutch
That was very interesting and yes some of the mining crowd can be Purdy tough.:icon_thumright:

What really shoved me over the edge, to let go of this, was when I initially was looking at treasurenet, it was to see what has been happening over the past 12 years. Did anyone find it yet? Not yet, but there was a map that had surfaced called the Waltz Map. It made no sense . . . at first.
Then I saw it, it was a map to this same ravine. I thought, there is no way someone has not found it yet.
By the time I was finished spilling the beans, it became apparent that I was incorrect in thinking it had been found because of the Waltz Map.

So, now what.
Jacob Waltz never made a map. Who did? When was it made?

When I was at the ravine in 2008, there was a claim monument there. It had been there for a long time.
At the bottom of the ravine there is a huge boulder that was also used as a claim marker. It was spray painted on it, "Finally 1966"
I think that the owner of the Finally claim made the Waltz Map. He had the mine until it, along with everything else in there, was made a wilderness area. He made the map to give the lost Dutchman gold mine, back to the Dutch hunters.

:laughing7: And I still watch Oak island.

It seems like, because I wasn't tortured for the information, that it must be bogus.

Try to give something away, and nobody trusts it.
