On this day in 1861, the Confederate States of America were established. Hurrah for Jeff Davis! :laughing7:

I'm related to Zachery Taylor the 12th President. His daughter married Jefferson Davis which means i'm related to somewhat.

My great grandfather fought in,"The Italian Brigade"

If he was anything like me he did his share and then some.

Italians in the Confederate Army

This is perhaps the earliest accumulated list of Italian residents of New Orleans. These Civil War roll calls were recorded in 1862 when New Orleans was captured by the Union Army. As a final act of honor, the enlisted were required to report and be discharged. A roll call was done for each company but only Field & Staff and the 1st Company are dated, 2 April 1862. There are 341 men listed in the Italian Brigade. This list was compiled by the National Archives and is not the original muster rolls.

I like you anyway,.........

I was born on the "Fort Polk Army Base",.... just outside Leesville,LA.

I barely remember it,...... it was a long time ago.

I was born in Charlottsville Virginia, and lived in Culpeper. I'm a Virginian. I would have enlisted with the 7th Virginia Infantry in a heartbeat if I had half the chance. Those Culpeper boys had 1,000 men in the ranks in 1861. There were 40 present at Appomattox. Cut to ribbons. I would have loved to have fought with them.

Good morning, ARC, Simon, Rook, Bill, WD, Bart, RR, Sanman, Duckshot, GB, and which ever rum guzzlers, arm twisters, knife throwing, sword swishing, swashbuckling stellar crew is on board this morning!

RC, I went a little high tech and got a battery powered trap, electrocuted them.
Have to keep switching the bait, they will stop eating what kills them...unlike us...more rum!

Morning guys. I'll be leaving in an hour for the bank... Rain shot down any plans of detecting or creek hunting.

Don't do it !
Think about your family.
Think about your future.

Now put that bandanna and sword away.
You'll find some money (without breaking the law and going to prison after robbing a bank) by detecting when the weather clears....
:laughing7:

lol! I had the same thought!

TOO LATE!!

I opened up a checking account, made a deposit, and drove through town for the first time. Wasn't too bad...

Translation:

I checked carefully, produced a handgun, the teller made a deposit to my black bag,.......
then I drove through town like a bat out of hell,.....Wasn't too bad...

I one dated a girl who was nicknamed "Chewbacca" but I never bothered to ask "why?" before we went out.

Then things got pretty hairy, so I had to let her go. :laughing7:

I had a girlfriend with a wooden leg,.........

It didn't work out,........ I had to break it off.
