Well the 🌶 is always looking for a good deal, to make life easier.
Heard about an evaporator for boiling sap in making maple syrup. 🍁
Small cast iron evaporator but with the stainless flue pan it was a great little supplement for me to use.
Ah wait a minute 😕 😳 🤔
Soldered joints.
How old are the pans?

"Can't find paperwork, all packed away "
🌶 got the old....

Well I have to do a lead test on those pans.
So I carried out my due diligence on the project.
Finally the test kit arrived and I was able to get 3 tests done.
The main pan

So in speaking again with the widow she again did the Sargeant S on me.
She did say they sold 50-60 gallons of syrup every year.
Now this makes the 🌶 totally pissed off.
So basically they sold 200-240 quarts containers of syrup every year to the public.
Oh the Government tested us every year.
Yes they test for fecal matter.
Basically if there wasn't any cow shit in your syrup your good to go.
It Works the same for a water test, no poo, good to drink.
They don't test for other possible contamination as lead.
"Oh"
Trash them
"The boys are cleaning out the barn and I'll have them throw out the pans."
The said scrap yard will resell those pans, I stated.
Destroy them-make them unusable again..
You don't want more folks consuming lead.
A test takes 60-90 seconds to perform.
I did it for 30-60 seconds I didn't have to go any further.

I guess I am just a little anal about what we eat/consume in our lifetime.
The husband didn't knowingly sell contaminated syrup to folks.
But these pans were resoldered joints, using lead based solder.
