Probably not gonna happen in Kalifornia,but you should try a fire on a very cold,very still,clear starry and moonlit night in the Delta listening to a bell mouth Redbone Hound work out the trail a sly coon left.With a couple buddies that know what that means too.Nothing quite compares.Merry Christmas my friend,all the best to you in the year to come.

It's nice enough out here, I have my fires with music always. Music and the fire are an absolute must. I'm pretty sure probably not even supposed to have bonfires most the time but I care not for many of California's rules.

Lol oh no some have huge fines. But out here no one cares and the sheriff I know him and he's real conservative and isn't going to bother with things like this anyways. The valley is very different then the rest of California.

Rules,HaHaHa! We laugh at rules,but I don,t live in Kalifornia. Sheriff here would cozy up to the fire and ask "how you boys doin"?

Lol basically how my counties sheriff is. I've dealt with a cop out here before but knowing the rules and their jurisdiction had to put one just being a jerk in his place. I was getting crayfish out of an irrigation ditch just out of boredom and a cop stops me and tells me to get out. I just say excuse me what am I doing wrong it is a public area, I'm not hurting anything, and oh yeah this isn't your jurisdiction so I'm just going to ignore you. Lol drove off all pissed. Note I respect cops greatly but still like any other professions there are people whom abuse the power in said professions.

Knowledge is power.Just because you respect some one is no reason to let yourself be brow beaten by them,good call. I,m lucky in that all the county police are pretty good people,don,t bother you for no cause.But it,s a small town,rural county.We all still know each other.

Most police I've dealt with are good people as well. This guy though had just been looking for someone to try to bully.

The missus is stuffing a boned leg of lamb as we speak. Spinach, goat cheese, garlic and herbes de provence. Scalloped potatoes and green beans a side dishes. Should be tasty.

What's on the menu with you folks?

Thanks for asking Bill. Yesterday I picked up a 6lb bone-in turkey breast from the butcher. This afternoon around 3:30 I'll make our Christmas dinner with roast potatoes, baby carrots, green & yellow beans and home-made gravy.
