Yep
It gets bigger every year.:BangHead:

We often discuss the hire out of the lawn cutting. Then the reality of who and the local possibilities. Once again reality kicks in as the possibles are impossible because of many reasons.

Example: One local fellow mows lawns at $25 an hour-if he has to use his push mower then it's more money, and only in the afternoons, evenings, as he doesn't rise until noon.(no trimming-he doesn't trim)

Another local: Charges $35 an hour-ride on mower doing a warp speed of a snail.
Oh so painful to watch him mow a neighbours lawn.
Took him plus a family member or 2 a couple of days to mow the lawn.
The new owner whips around on the riding mower in an hour or so.:dontknow:

So I come down to the simple fact that more shrubs, paths, rock gardens, gardens, less lawn is a better choice than slitting my wrists watching some half wit sucking my wallet dry pushing the mower.

Sads669 took me and the guests down to deans blue hole.....the world's deepest blue hole.....sads669, is one cool dude !! One of the most accomplished divers in the world !! Sorry I haven't checked in.....we are at the edge of the world here....wifi is sketchy at best.

So .... good morning guys and gals !!

Hi all, I hope all is well.

I seem to be headed to Oregon, partly in an effort to extract placer from enemy territory. I did not have much room for tools, but I got a 2' drop riffle, #4 mesh classifier, a Keene pan, finishing pan, a #20 mesh kitchen strainer, and a snuffer- all that I can fit into one five gallon bucket. No room for a D-handle spade. Will have to pick one up in town then leave it there when I go.

This will be near Baker Or. Has anyone here prospected in the Baker area? If so, can you clue me in on some access points to public panning areas?

Thanks!

I graduated yesterday :occasion14::wav:!!!!

Jim,

Well to keep the ticks off of you long pants tucked into the socks and boots of some sort, hat and long sleeved shirt. At least that's the commonly given advice good luck with figuring out how to get rid of them.

Morning Bill
How's the planting going?
Thanks for the spinach link, interesting type of spinach.

I'm at my wits end regarding the big garden-everytime I got up to water the garlic I get a tick hitch hiker.
One yesterday, 2 the other day and I'm thinking of doing the diatomaceous earth bombing soon.
The mrs said I need to transport the chickens up there for awhile to work on the issue.

Permethrin for ticks.
Follow instructions to the T. Keep away from cats when wet. (More so if you like cats.) Might as well keep it away from all livestock when wet.
Farm stores sell less diluted stuff the user can dilute with water for reduced cost.
Treated clothing lasts a while. Days anyways. I am content with just lower legs of pants being treated. Though ticks do like to climb stuff before hitching rides on passers by.

Gave a friend some for his tick infested property he used to own up North.
The locals there were quite impressed with it as well.

I live in long pants and shirt tucked in, but still they like to crawl up and down. Just sort of creeps me out those blood suckers.

No Permethrin in this house, nor really care for using that or Deet products. Cats are top rung in house-The Mrs rather see us deal with a tick than harm the 2 girls.

Deet I can see dodging.
Permethrin used properly , is dry when cats are exposed to it.
I harped on the friends about the precautions.

Nothing else has been a proven deterrent with near the effect. One would be welcomed for sure.
I've debated about "leggings" to wear outside , and be able to secure them out of dog contact before entering the house or thier fence.
Over precautious. But dislike ticks. And chiggers!

We got a fresh batch of veggies this a.m. so making this as a side veggie.

Congrats GB !! you da man !!

Saw a high frequency tick device for humans, dogs, horses.
They said they have had good responses back on the devices.
Might read up more on them.

Dog runs away from home.
Chickens light out to the next province to escape the sound.
No more deer or fox or bird sightings.
Mail carrier refuses to stop.

Oh wait , you mean it's for humans and livestock to use to deter ticks. Not to deter humans and livestock with...
Dang , I was getting all interested in one.:laughing7:

Congrats GB.
