At least when they pass it’s not gravel.:BangHead:

Drivers suck.

And these damn Canadians :P

We stayed in Venice Fl. for a month one winter-now there was some scary drivers. We made it a policy not to drive during the first hour of the dinner specials.

Bill, have you tried straw bale gardening? I’ve been trying to ask you but than it says I can’t and go log on again and so on.

Here the ground up trees mulch can be bad thing from previous video. It can cause the tree your trying to grow to get rotten wood bugs an organic overload kinda like.
I like green house or small hot box on the ground. It’s so easy. Carrots, Snap peas, radish.

ARC& Duckshot,

Thanks for the chuckles....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

It's just a sacrifice you have to make for the economic benefit.

https://www.tampabay.com/news/busin...-fewer-canadian-snowbirds-mean-for-tampa-bay/

It's similar here Bill the cottages are all boarded up this year. The places never opened, still closed up from last winter.
The lakes were quieter, less traffic, but the local traffic was higher and more city escapers.
So it was a trade off in some respects as the neighbours have also mentioned is that most summer residents from the States treated things with respect.
It's still their home away from home and some are generational.
Beats the hell out of the city tramping around, setting fires to party, trespassing, and having that awful "It all about me" aura.
So maybe things will be somewhat the same this summer if the borders remain closed.

Fat,

Not really our soil has a high amount of clay so our work around is raised beds. And we keep adding mulch and compost year after year to improve the soil. We ended up with something like 335 lbs of tomatoes this past summer, about 20 lbs or yellow snap beans, cucumbers and lots of kale, swiss chard and various other veggies.

I grew potatoes and a few other things in a few bales one year. The secret I think is to soak them down good for a few weeks before the planting to let them to start cooking up a bit. Then plant in them as they act like a micro green house inside the bale producing lots of snuggly for the plants.

Bill what's growing under cover in the first top left photo?

See that car making a u turn on Tamiami Trail from the right hand lane across the left lane?

It has Ontario plates, don't it?....

...you can bet your boots that it does.

I catch your drift.
I know rural route best, just try and take a left turn in Detroit Michigan, you take a right than look for a U turn sign so you can get turned back around again.

Ahhh....recalculating......

Bill really nice yard. I love it. Is that a sauna? That’s high on my list now.

Straw bale needed placed in July/aug as soon as made for planting the following spring, soak wrap. Build a hot box frame that you place 4-6 bales around. It will fit right in your program.

Jim,

That's brussel sprouts we tried them without much success for a couple of seasons. We ended up having way more leaves than actual sprouts. We did use them though to make stuffed cabbage rolls.

Anything cabbage related we use the row covers to protect them for cabbage moths also our swiss chard which gets attacked by leaf miners.

I've grown 'spouts a few years. The key to getting them to fruit is to top them right when the buds start, and then let 'em grow 'till the snow falls. 'Sprouts are practically frost proof. But if you don't top them they don't yield much.

Here's one I just installed finally this fall.
Infrared, 100% Balsam wood, ceramic heaters, Himalayan salt packs.

Fat,

The structure in the picture is basically a storage shed. The missus wanted a fancy one heck it's worth more than what's stored in there go figure...lol.

I'm thinking of insulating it and using it as a doghouse to get away from the missus.:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

Here is our friends sauna.
Looking like it might be right up there in the rum theme.

That is nice. There is some kind of underground cable going in close by and the spool is 7-8 feet tall. I said I would buy and they said I could have but than it snowed and holidays and I haven’t seen them in couple weeks to finish.
A kind of pallet style repurposed structure.

All the time it takes me to reply, you show me another picture of one that’s way better than my idea to begin with, another thing I’m enjoying on this site

That barrel has running gear. Pull it to the river to smoke fish than back home for me..

Good idea to insulate, darning socks with cold fingers is no fun, I’m sure she will appreciate it....yuk yuk..
