Had a wood buyer over last night......we got drunk....after he bought some slabs and we toasted with shots, we got his wife to drive us around the neighborhood and we filled his truck with storm logs....mahogany, tamarind, seagrape, and Jamaican dog wood. Instead of getting drunk and waking up with no money, I woke up with a pocket full of cash !! Wooo hoooo !!

Jim,

Here's a simple recipe for making compost tea for the garden. I was doing this several years ago then stopped for some reason.

Here's a comfort food recipe to try. Irish Sheppard's Pie.

I think that would cure my hang over bill......first hangover in 3 years......usually im very cautious with my drinking and rarely drink to the point of a hangover. I didn't even remember going to the bar until I saw the pics this morning. Thats getting too carried away. Its 1130 and I finally feel better with 2 hardboiled eggs and some toast. Maybe I need a beer now !! LOL!!

I'm putting up a large wooden sign (yet to made) hanging between the farm gate (yet to be installed).
The patch is going to be called "Brickyard Berries"

This farm gate is located along the highway and the patch is located on the flat at the other end of the field. There's been many inquiries already of what am I doing.
The sign is going up just to mess with the minds of of inquiring minds Bill.

The berries will be for our own use/and the like minded folks we have in a food circle.

So far I have put in 60 Haskaps-170 Raspberry. Still have 55-60 canes to plant today.

In the early spring there's 100 3yr old Blueberry plants to transplant, and a few hundred Strawberries plants.

Tired of driving hrs and hrs for our food, when i have the resources to have the food growing in my back yard so to speak.

Jim, it never ceases to amaze me just how many projects you have on the go at any one time around your property.

Tell me... do any of these projects actually get completed or are they pretty much all at the 75%+ stage of being done? :laughing7:

Just another Saturday might in the Florida Keys eh Bart... 'get hammered and get wood'.

Sounds like what I used to do when I was in my 20s, except I did my cruising in the downtown Toronto bars at closing time! :laughing7:

Mornin all!

7:20 A.M.. soaking wet world , buck down.
Took me till about 10:45 to get him out of the swamp (35 yards maybe) , dressed , and then loaded onto the wheelchair carrier.
Time for new ropes. Broke one of them two or three times.
Got soaked. Really soaked. L.o.l..

A fine Nov. morning.

That makes my morning seem like a cake walk RC.
Congrats on the buck, and getting it out and dressed and loaded.
Not sure how you do all this, but I tip my hat to you sir.
May I ask how many points was he?

This what has been done over the past week and a bit.

So it may sound like there's no end to things in life here, and I'm telling you it really seems that way most of the time.
But we're getting the list whittled down these past few weeks.

Now the list of what's outstanding........Let's put it this way, I have enough to keep myself out of trouble for a few more years.:laughing7:

Gee I was beginning to think that the dude was germophobe scared of a little poo on the strawberries so he doesn't eat them. :laughing7:

I'll probably use one of my large totes for making up batches of tea for the gardens this year.

Why mess around with a small batch many times when one big batch will do it.
It fill them off the eavestrough down pipe at the shop, a little moisture and the 300 gallon is full.

RC,

Good afternoon and congratulations on the successful hunt. Looks like you'll be eating like a king for awhile!...:headbang::headbang::headbang:

7 point. 4x3.Two year old is my guess. Likely no more than three. No pronounced sag to back or belly or wrinkly hide yet.
Been rutting hard. Smellin like a billy goat advertising himself.. Lean from chasing doe. I'll know more when hide comes off but guessing he'll have very little fat.
A rough deal when winter is coming and weight is lost anyways , but they survive usually.
Habitat/forage during recovery post rut matters in that narrow window of time before the bitter weather sets in and then metabolism drops...
My area is light on forage tonnage mid-late winter. Trees that were second growth from the 1800's logging era leave no/little browse in reach today. Forest floor is shaded to much for much to grow there.

My wrist I fell/landed on in the swamp is angry. (Awww.) Still hot , but guessing it's a mild sprain. Won't hold a cup of coffee though. Frown. L.o.l..
Need it to pull hide and start cutting though. Not going to be tonight...

I grew up on venison my father shot 15 during his years of hunting. 13 head shots and 2 lung kills. Lots of great meat was cooked over the years and some not so if I remember right. Had a bad butcher one year, still remember the pine needles were on the plate edge, seemed like it wasn't cleaned up right.
I need a few cameras up on the property to see what's walking around.
We have the big buck still around as I see the prints regularly but not him.

Well you'll sleep well tonight I hope knowing you have done the deed, and the freezer will have something in it for the seasons ahead. Congrats once again on the hunt.
Put a good rub on the wrist before bed, it might help with the recovery.

I denied myself running cameras this year.
Or , I was lazy , one of the two...
There are two places I put posts to hold them. If you've heard of folks in history using posts to trap birds... I had a hawks tail in one camera shot. It perched on the post.

Both are near sensitive to intrusion areas. I don't want to bug the deer too much if I'm not doing actual "work" out there. ( Part of my excuse...)

A dog knocked my old laptop on the floor and finished it off. Unreadable screen. With my years of game camera pictures on it still..
No biggy though.

Any electronic store like Staples will get all the info off the hard drive onto a memory stick or CD for you.
I have 3 hard drives to do now-just never seem to have the time to get them into the city to have it done.
The retrieval of all the mapping of sites on them would be a great bonus, hundreds of hrs of work.
