Mornin WD !

Nice of you to join us :P

Morning AARC, Rook, Dave, WD

Best of luck to you Dave on your interview with the generator folks today.

Pepper. I would love to join the ranks of you treasure hunters. I've been watching videos on youtube to learn the techniques. I will be buying all the equipment necessary by next spring. I'll still purchase items, but I look forward to the hard work and excitement of discovering a historical treasure myself. Right from the ground! I watch 'The Hoover Boys' on youtube. I didn't know there were people who felt such passion and excitement for history as I do! I have to meet up with people like this. It will enrich my life immeasurably.

I buy tons of stuff from the Great White North. You Canucks have all the good stuff!...lol

Best regards,

JG
Good morning Jacob :hello:
I can certainly appreciate the history of relics from the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, but try to keep a level head and not get caught up in the hype of detecting to recover your countries history. The detectorists on YouTube and the metal detector companies make it look very easy to find gold jewelry, silver coins and military relics. It takes a lot of time and dedication to learn the language your new detector speaks. Find someone in your area who has been detecting for years and ask them for their thoughts on what detecting was like years ago compared to how detecting is today. Thankfully, I had a great mentor early on when I first got involved in detecting... thanks very much for your help pepperj.

I also found Beau Ouimette (aka. Auquachigger) to be one of the most knowledgeable guys on YouTube for being able to read the soils and the topography of the land.
History is getting much harder to find, online research and talking to the older residents in your area is the key to making older finds.

Here are some of the rules of detecting that I learned to follow early on...

I WILL respect private property and WILL NOT trespass without the landowner’s permission.
I WILL NOT destroy property, buildings or what is left of ghost towns and deserted structures.
I WILL NOT litter, always pack out what I take in and remove all trash dug in my search.
I WILL leave all gates and other accesses to land as found.
I WILL appreciate and protect our heritage of natural resources, wildlife, and private property.
I WILL use thoughtfulness, consideration and courtesy at all times.
I WILL abide by all laws, ordinances or regulations that may govern my search, or the area I will be in.
I WILL fill all holes, regardless how remote the location, and never dig in a way that will damage, be damaging to, or kill any vegetation.
I WILL report the discovery of items of significant historical value to a local historian or museum in accordance with the latest legislation.
I WILL be an ambassador for the metal detecting hobby.

Please remember:
"All treasure hunters may be judged by the example you set. Be extremely careful with your probing, picking up, discarding of trash, and always cover your holes!"

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Thanks very much Jim.
I did a lot of online research yesterday to learn about their products and the company, they certainly have a lot of potential.

One of their weak points though, they don't use Honda Gas Engines on their smaller equipment, they use their own 'Generac' brand of engine.
This was a mistake that my previous employer made years ago. It took them almost 10 years to admit that branding an engine with your name that you don't make is never a good idea, especially when it doesn't hold up in the rental industry. But, I don't think this is something I'll mention in today's interview. :laughing7:

Good morning WD, ARC and Rook. :hello:

We have a Generac. Been in this house 9 years and it has kicked on I believe 3 times now. It did not let us down. We were especially grateful we had it when the tornadoes came through last year.

Good morning folks !

Good morning pepperj, WD, and bart.

Yes WD, Generac is very well known for their brand of residential backup power units, you see and hear their advertising all the time.

They're looking for someone to develop the Construction & Industrial markets here in Ontario for the other range of their products.
They have a very interesting diverse range of products, but as I mentioned to Jim, they need to make some engine changes to be more accepted in the construction industry. :icon_scratch:
The product range they currently offer, looks to be marketed more to the homeowners and DIY market segments.

Here's a screenshot of their current line of products.
