Just having the last bit of sheeting put up in the garage and needed some 3/4" cove moulding to go around where the ceiling/wall meet. So off to the nearest lumber yard and got 3 bundles of Roxul insulation and 30 pieces of molding, the guy said $410 and I said put it on the account. Then the neurons started firing and I knew the insulation was around $190 and I asked how much the pine moulding was and it was like $7 ea.
I must of looked like I got slapped with a wet fish-as I walked out and put in the truck.
Off to buddies shop, we milled down some wood-he ran a cove, bigger, and it cost me $100 for 330 ft and it's 1 1/2" so it'll look better around the 10' ceilings now.
Same product at the lumber yard would of cost me $785.
Now I never begrudge anyone making a buck, but the cost of materials is just plain silly-all I hear is it's because of the virus. Probably it's a case of lets just jack the prices on the old inventory game.

I grew up about 2miles south of this site east of Toronto, it always amazed me whenever we drove by it as a kid. :icon_scratch:

Tabor Hill Park – Scarborough, ON

"The discovery was made 60 years ago when the site was being developed for a new residential area. When construction equipment pulled up a shovel full of bones, work was stopped, and the area subsequently protected by the city as parkland. At the top of the mound now rests a large stone cairn with plaques dedicating the site.

The No Tobogganing sign found at the bottom of the hill may seem rather mean-spirited if you don’t appreciate that the hill is in fact a cemetery. Back in the 1990s, concerns were raised by First Nations that this ground was not being respected as sacred and the cairn was routinely defaced by graffiti – often racist in tone. As a result, tobogganing – which was very popular on the hill – was subsequently banned, but the ‘park’ sign has yet to be changed. I can’t help but wonder if the people who live in this quiet neighbourhood understand the significance of the hill in their front yard. Their first clue would be from the names of the streets in the area… but given the garbage discarded on the hill, it makes me sad to know that there are those who simply don’t care." - Joanne Sisco

This is interesting Jim, although I haven't heard of any retailers intentionally price gouging during COVID here in Ontario.

There was a grocer in Toronto who tripled the selling price of disinfectant wipes, but when the media caught wind of this he was tarred and feathered by the press. :laughing7:

Good morning, mateys.

I must say, I’m finding the readings very fascinating. [emoji847]

Good morning WD.

Well, I'm off to do some mid-week detecting, hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

Speaking of lumber our new neighbour was having some renovations done and when he went to buy some 2"x4" the price was double from last year.

Supposedly with the lockdowns loads of people are doing upgrades on their houses which is increasing demand.

Mornin all.

Unghh. The proverbial bus hit feeling...

There are native mounds near me. Location helped them escape being leveled pre conservation era.
I had documents of a college digging them in the sixties (?) with no sign of burials , but other interesting notes.
I've debated about running the boat near some , but I just leave the area be instead..

Dave I imagine you aren't purchasing building materials regularly.
Except for a certain can of paint that probably needs shook up again because it's sitting at the front stoop staring at you everyday.:laughing7:
Have a look-hope you'll never have to build a house in the next little while. 3X the price in a year alone.

The neighbor came out and started shouting at me !! He came very close to getting punched in the mouth !! Screaming cuss words at me from 2 feet away will get you punched.....and he was lucky enough to back off when he saw smoke coming out my ears !! He says I cut down his tree on our property ?? And now he was gonna call the county on me. I told him if he didn't get off the property the only people he would need to call would be an ambulance. I gave him more than one hard push in the back until he was off the property. I told him if he put his pinky toe across the property line ill call the law right before I begin your a** beating. I then called the owner of the lot who came down in under 5 minutes with the police.....I got a minor chastising about threatening him but was told I was within my rights and he was trespassing. I will be right up on his fence line this afternoon with my detector. This guy had on a fanny pack....or a man purse...at the height of his cussing I cut him off and said "unless you got a gun in your stupid fanny pack, you better shut the fu.. up and back off" he's just pissed the vacant lot is getting built on right next door to him. Oh well buddy....get used to neighbors.

Morning WD, RC and bart
