Good mornin RC...:hello:

Mornin.
Good you made it out!

This is the time of year I'd hit the river when I could.
Get in a crick entering it where the water was so cold it almost hurts. Sit and fish till cooled off enough to poke along the bank sight fishing.
A couple beers secured in the crick would chill nicely.

An ex caught her biggest trout that way.
Hottest day of the year , I'd put a tee-shirt on a forked sapling to give her some shade and told her to be patient ,the trout would return to that oxygenated cold water where the crick entered the river. (They about had to to breath...)
I was about a quarter mile downstream when she hollered she had one on.
Good times.

Always thought it odd that people just had to have air conditioning in a vehicle or home.
Then when a bit older and having A.C. , it got to being a trend. L.o.l..
My summer fishing/river running started to fall off though.

Good morning RC.

Uncle!

Final thinning of carrots yesterday.
Brought a paper plate to set culls on , figuring on a snack.
Little buggers were about two inches long , plus their fine tap roots. Tasted good. Didn't burden the plate too much though. Sometimes my anticipation outweighs the results.
Shared them with the dogs.
Transplanted a few. Tried to keep roots straight and no air pockets around them without packing the soil too tight. Time will tell.

More Taylor beans . They were not happy though. Tried a deeper watering. Early plants may be tiring from age, or got dry maybe. Leaves were not telling me though.
The secondary /later plantings of the same are flowered now. Pretty close on the timing for steady beans.
5/19 and 6/12 planting dates.
6/5 might have been better.(?)

Really need to consider next years soil conditions better. And mulch.
Leaves will be a big part of that.
Still tree timbers from the neighbors cutting in the way of my biggest and oldest pile. But , there's other small piles out back...

Well I tried to convince the chickens to go to the fenced in area. Nope didn't want anything to do with the run, just hung close to the barn/home area, so they got spooked the other day with the fox trying to get them. Tried to buy an electric kit/poultry mesh supplies. :laughing7::laughing7::laughing7: Ok I get the message-try back in 2021 you say.:icon_scratch:

Jim,

Try digging up some worms for the chickens and make a trail for them to the fenced off area and see if that works. They probably also need something in the run for shelter from the sun and predators from above.

We have a fennel bulb we have to use up so this will be a side dish to have with our spinach a feta cheese pie. I'll probably go with way less fat though just some olive oil, salt, pepper and to jazz it up some balsamic vinegar.

Thanks Bill,

That's not too far off from what I already do. Will give it a try and let you know.

It was excellent, Bill! And her ending was hilarious!

Now I am not a fried squash fan. Mr just likes it dipped in egg and cornmeal then fried. “Like my grandma used to make it.”

Well, I went with this southern fried recipe. I got complimented on it. I’m still not a fan. I find it bland, tasteless.

We had a few pickling cucumbers that got way oversized for pickling. Didn't want to chuck them so cut them up in chunks and started 2 jars fermenting. Waste not want not.
