Pretty good last few days on the Miller:):occasion14::occasion14: 003.webp

roger,

Well done on the gold you're making out like a bandit.

Only person to blame is me......I did not check my passport and entered bahamian waters by boat. The customs agent cleared me through with out noticing also. Now when you go to fly out you are in possession of a 2019 stamped passport that expired in 2018. When the law sees this stamp they assume that you are bribing a customs official. Add to that a different name on your passport than what's on your birth certificate and driver's license and you've got big problems!! Now add a bit of pirate association in the mix.......and buddy you are on everyone's radar. Poor customs agent has probably been fired over this. Then American airlines got fined 5000 for booking my flight out on an obviously expired passport. Now they dont like me either. So after 10 hours in the brig and 2 days of passport bureaucracy and then being sand bagged by the airlines.......well ....I'm starting to feel some pressure. I almost snapped on the poor little girl at the airport gate. I'll keep my temper one more day and hope for the best. This is starting to be a threat to my job now.

Old saying . "Never lean into a left hook".

Been there. A couple times. Slow learner maybe.
(No , not the Bahamas with an expired passport...)

Yup....self inflicted pain. At least my partner got from Spanish wells to harbor island in one piece. The devils backbone is no joke and is probably the most dangerous stretch of water in the Bahamas. One false move and you are splinters on the rocks or reef. here is my good friend jaques A.K.A. "the bandit" piloting some boats through the backbone. Capt Dennis went for it on his own and is probably one of the few who can navigate it in rough conditions like today. I was sick to my stomach thinking about him doing it by his self today....but hes safely ashore at harbor island......thank God!! The bandit has been an incredible friend to me in the Bahamas and and is a wealth of history and knowledge. Hes head of archeology at Spanish wells and helps me with metal detecting permissions

Would love to dive the DBB.

With a name like "The devils backbone"...

You just have to dive it... sheesh if for nothing else ... just for bragging rights... and the name sounds cool :P

:)

Anyway...
BART... get yer affairs in order my friend.... sounds like you might wanna "slow your roll"... get righted.

Bart,

I'll try to keep you entertained while you're grounded.

Bryan Ferry-More than this.

And now that I have dished out some brotherly love advice... I am gonna slow my roll down the yellow brick road...

You know the rest :P

Night scallywags. :)

You would love it AARC. the reef comes up from 20 ft sand bottom all the way to the surface. You can lay on the bottom and look at the reef towering all the way to the surface like a building. Got one Spanish ballast mound, and found the Baltic a couple years ago. It was partially salvaged by makydon here on t-net in 92 he sanded it back in and left before Andrew hit. It was lost until I rediscovered it in 2016. Looking for the Boston this year and I think I know where the "salye" is too. The bandit and i will be investigating this site soon. The salye carried the first English settlers to the Bahamas from Bermuda. They wrecked the salye somewhere on the backbone and survived in a natural cave called the preachers cave. It would be awesome if we could identify this undiscovered historically significant wreck. No treasure but a real big deal !!
