Got A Rock you Want Identified? Post it here! gimme a good picture or 3 or 4!

Here's a rock I found yesterday. I am new at this and I have no idea what it is. What is really odd to me is the gray area where it appears that something flowed into the rock. Any help identifying this would be great! Thanks!

bloody Sulphur sulfides! lol send me one or get them assayed!

So I had about ten good size prices of this and have been soaking it and brushing and I'm almost certain that all the pieces have a good amount of gold in them. The strange thing was that little nugget things kept falling out of the layers and I mean like ten a piece. Can this be possible ? I have 5 zip lock bags full of this stuff.

Sea floor! yup We see it alot here (Pun God almost got me there) you have anchient sea floor its been under so much pressure that it should have quartz inclusions "Burped" into it. The chamber is Coral (petrified with Surrounding minerals, i would look closely at it for any Shells or worm tracts, etc.. and if your lucky you might even find other stuff. nice rock!

Bucklebunni.. Well what it looks like is Marble metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. Geologists use the term "marble" to refer to metamorphosed limestone; however, stonemasons use the term more broadly to encompass unmetamorphosed limestone.[1] Marble is commonly used for sculpture and as a building material.
Thats a nice chunk.. there are pictures on the web of Marble CO, there is a cemetery there that would blow most minds.. due to the absolutely gorgeous Angels carved out of marble. Just fantastic!

Dusted have been away just found a reference to a plate in your neck?? What happened? did a vampiresss bite a chunk off?? In any event, here's hoping for a smooth, easy recovery.

Don Jose de La Mancha

Lol naw I broke my neck (26 places 1991) (8 places in 1992) and crushed 6 discs in 2005 when a drunk driver hit me soo ya my neck is a mess but I have a plate with 2 screws backing out into my esophagus causing a wonderful choking sensation.! yay! NOT I'm doing better moving along on the path to surgery! anyhoo.

TON of copper in that Comglomerated Schist,, sulfides, and a hint at peacocking,,, not quite good ore except to a copper miner... but a nice rock none the less.. Schists have semi precious stones in them so yes alot of it will not digest in HCL or much else for that matter.. but im not seeing the all important gold in these m8. Soz..

Good Vein !! ok so pyrite Iron ore and yes it should yield gold (somewhere in the 2 to 3 oz per ton range.. Hunt down the mineralization in that vein, and look for the gold (it wont have square crystalizations) and it will look just like gold. and will dent like gold (bend) etc.. Nice specimen and yes that is a great spot to look for a Vein!

Aww shucks, so what are the differences cause obviously I can't tell the difference. Would love to be educated on how I can tell if its gold or copper. You da man

Thanks a lot Dustedyou, I have got some quartz rocks from this vein that weighs about 15 to 20 pounds each unbroken and now I am digging really small stuff of clear rock. I am new at this and way up on a hillside, no creek or nothing around, and this yellow and red minerals in this ground that are hard as a rock, don't know what the minerals are but they are running with the quartz vein. A lot of sweat in this one but never give up. Thanks.

lol sweat and blood... I named my mine the "Knuckle Basher" hunt down that vein.. look for "Spider Veins" (they spread out from the main) and look for a widening of yours! GL and may you be blessed with GOLD!

Thanks dustedyou! I never would have guessed that this was sea floor! I'll have to look at it closely under better light and see if I can find any signs of fossils. Do you think this rock may have been formed by the Western Interior Seaway?

I'll post pics if I find anything of interest on it. Thanks again for your help!

M8!! nice color in there!! get your panning down your Getting good color and im seeing gold!! yay!! panning will make or break you .. be patient and continue your hard work itll pay off...
keep panning it down shake it and wipe off the junk .. your doing just fine .. (I also keep all my "Grind" for a repanning later i always miss a little! lol

Ok so these have been soaking now for almost a month. Looking good ? . Also I know this is a stupid qes but I seem to be having a hard time spotting real gold. So I'm assuming the glowing yellowish gold stuff is the gold but still an amateur so if its not educate me on where it is. These also got soaked today in HCL and this is after FYI. Thanks a million

Thanks Dustedyou. Have dug this hole in a bank so far I have to lay down to reach any more quartz in this vein and I am afraid the roof will fall in on me but I can still see quartz in the end of this hole but not clear quartz anymore. Has turned to white rock with a lot of black in it. Still got quartz in it too. Thanks for the info.Just using a screwdriver and a hammer and shovel io get this far so I need all the luck and information I can get.
