DOC NOSS-Victorio Peak OR The Caballo Mountains

I haven't seen that before, next time I hike up there I will look sounds interesting there is a ladder way up on the highest rock outcrop where someone uses it to get into a cave you can see it from the bottom of the canyon. Ladder is still in good shape. One thing I would say to whiskeyrat is there has been a man on every rock in that canyon at one time or another both those canyons either drain into Burbank or right next to it just take it for what's it worth good luck.

Those Caballos are worn thin

Organs are better , for the Indians kept people out until the Reservation stole them
then ,, the Ranchers kept people out til the Military stole the land .

few feet have walked the Organs compared to the Caballos .

The East side Canyons are almost Virgin .

Get a Dove Hunting permit at the HQ , and try to get into these three canyons

From North to South on the East Side

1. Johnson Canyon

2. Glendale Canyon

3. Rucker Canyon

I believe it was Rucker where dad found Blue Mud with small Diamonds in it .

the best Diamond Mines in Africa , all had Blue Mud .

The Gravel in the Dry Wash that runs out of Glendale shows really good Placer Gold .

BUT , it is DRY most of the year

Johnson Canyon ,,, ?

Johnson Canyon has so much going on for it .
Treasure markers
Mine Markers
and it is just a SPOOKY Canyon even in Daylight . The Formations are spooky , like other worldly spooky

It is as well where two Rustlers found a Cache , they fought over it , the survivor made it to the
Cox Ranch House with a Large gash in his Shoulder from an Ax .

He lived long enough to convey what they found and the fight , but he could not name the Canyon
for there were no names known for them by Ranchers back at that time .

Not many people have Been in Johnson or Glendale .

Dad and Buddies did explore Rucker to some extent .

but only went into Glendale and Johnson a few times .

Most of the Monument Markers on the East side still stand .

So, its army reservation land. They allow dove hunting???? Where do it get this permit? From a sporting goods store or from the army HQ????
Is this legit? or whats going on.
Seems weird since it is technically OUR land (we the people, all that constitution stuff you know).
How did the army get the right to steal the public land????
Anyway, if i get this dove hunting permit, i can roam the army reservation??????

The security office can lead you in the right direction, eventually you would have to go through them anyway.np:cat:

Uh, I would have to be an idiot to approach the "govt" about anything. NOTHING good will ever come from "govt" involvement. In treasure hunts or anything else, except surrendering tax money, they dont seem to mind that.
I hunt alone, I fish alone, I explore alone, I prospect alone, I come and go like the wind and nobody notices except sometimes the animals and the birds. when you are friends with the beautiful darkness and peacefulness of night (as in no humans around), much can be done with very little issues.
Introduce one other human and the possible issues expand exponentially. Introduce the "govt" and seriously? forget it.
when you can move thru the wilderness and the animals and birds do not take flight, do not notice you, just continue about their business, then you are one with your surroundings and things change.
my grandfather made me practice that as a small boy. but I digress.
I have my target picked. thanks TM2 and NP. I will not be seeking "permission".
Free men do not need permission.

There is a documentary on nexflix. Its about a rune stone, but the mention the templer coming to the new world before
Columbus. The doc said they trying to build new Jerusalem. The doc said they were killed by plaque. The rest left for where abouts unknown.

:coffee2: :dontknow:Did Doc or anyone else leave directions for someone to find their treasure cache in the caballo's or victorio peak? :dontknow:NP:cat:

See the shadow that looks like a finger ,

that high small canyon is the locale of the Silver Mine of La Rue .

it is very steep to climb to it .

But , if a person needs money , you can get silver here , My Dad used an Axe and cut chunks of raw silver vein
out of it .

hope that helps ya Whiskeyrat .

TM2: I am coming to NM to search for this mine. I want to verify that "the shadow that looks like a finger" that you referred to is actually the one I think it is.
I am including a screen shot of the area you sent a google map of, I circled the "finger shadow" that i believe is the canyon you refer to.
Prior to launching this expedition, can you verify that I did indeed choose the correct shadow that you were referring to? I would appreciate it greatly.
thanks

Sorry Whiskeyrat
but that photo is so small and sideways.

directions to La Rue Mine above La Rue Map Rock

From I-70 take Baylor Canyon Rd. to the second Road on the left before Cattle Guard . First road is to a Ranch
second road is to Mine House Spring and the stone Cabin .

From I-25

Take University Drive exit , follow east pass Hiway Patrol and " A " Mountain on right hand side of road ,
follow 12 miles and turn left on Baylor Canyon Rd. before you get to dripping springs .

Pass Windmill on left side of road and go one mile to Mine House spring road and turn right
( No sign for the road , you'll know it when you pass the cattle guard after the windmill )

The road is very rough going up to the cabin

Park wherever you can and walk to the cabin.

walk in front of the cabin and just a few yards pass it , you will find a Boulder with a Niche in it facing you

in the niche is La Rues Strike Mark .
From that Boulder

600 yards due south-east , you will see a huge red boulder , the size of a one car garage .

Atop of it , you will see a square boulder set there by La Rue.

You can climb atop the boulder at the cabin and looking due east and a ways south , you will see
the Huge Map Rock Boulder with the square boulder on top .

Go to that Map Rock , you'll know you have the right boulder when you find a 10 foot deep hole
dug on the east side and hieroglyphs above the hole that have been spray painted over
with black and white paint .

That is La Rues Map Rock .

Climb up on the Map Rock and Look directly East at the Mountains

A very steep narrow Canyon is visible , the mine is above the south wall of that steep canyon , it is
in a Canyon above on the right hand wall ( south wall of the Steep Narrow Canyon )

Walk to the mouth of the Steep Narrow Canyon staying close to the north wall as much as possible ( stay out of the wash in the center of that canyon, it is too rough with big boulders )

at a point just before the head of the steep canyon , cross the wash and top out at the head of the canyon .

Takes a lot of energy and time to get this far .

If you stand at the top ( head of the canyon ) and look south , you are looking for a way to get up into the Higher Canyon
above the steep canyon , above the south wall of the steep canyon .

The Mine is up there in the higher canyon .

Right there in the right side of the map image is the mine .

I could lead you to it if I was down there .
That would be best .

There was a stone monument pointing to it , an Idiot found out what it was , climbed up there and knocked
it off the ridge .
