DOC NOSS-Victorio Peak OR The Caballo Mountains

TM2: Wow now thats awesome. Great stuff.

attached is a GE view of the canyon that is the "finger shaped shadow" in your post.
I circled what i interpreted as the finger shape (drew lines around it), you can still see the shape. Is this the correct shadow?

Did you literally mean this tiny canyon (more like a wash) or perhaps the rather larger canyon to the left?

Same Rock, Different Times And Distance

View attachment 1153950
This pic, was taken on a Saturday, maybe
around 2:30 to 3:00 pm, or so. You can see
the bird shadow outline sitting or nesting,
carved around the turtle's mouth...

View attachment 1153951
This second photo, was taken the following day, on Sunday,
but about a couple of hours or so, earlier in the afternoon...
Tap on this once, and you'll clearly see, the difference that
it, the sun angle can so easily make, in the time of day,
just by a couple of hours... I didn't see it, until I had
looked, and stared at it on the screen... There are
other things on this same rock, that come and go... :sunny: :fish:
:cross:

Since the world moves, and changes angles through the
seasons, as well as the sun changing angles, they knew
how to make carvings to go with carvings, to make sure,
or also to confirm, what the interpreter is seeing, was
definitely, of 'Intelligent Design' and not just all
naturally occurring, if I may borrow that term,
from Lost Horse... What's even as cool, or
better, is when they utilized natural, and
designed formations and carvings...

They really were, quite good. The
camera is the equalizer to S/S, much
like S&W, or Colt, etc., is to men, lol!
Also, your changing angles can differ
the shapes/reveal, of the shadows...

One last thing. I have tried to find
the same bird shadow, standing/sitting/
dropping the egg(s), and it only happens,
on this particular one, when the sun is far
south of the Equater, dead of winter in N. A. ...:thumbsup:

You are right about to take pictures from the sites . I used this method and I have see many signs in the pictures which were not visible in the field .
But ... the best pictures where the signs are clearly visible , were taken in a cloudy day or after the Sunset . From this , I understood how the most of the treasure carved signs/symbols are placed into the shadows , mostly to the north , behind or close to a big rock which in the sun light attracts our attention and hides the marks .
Don't use shadows . Search in shadows .
And . to put a rock up on another is a trail marking but unsure how this could leads to a mine or a treasure site .

Marius,

Very interesting, just like TM2 said about the sun/rays showing up before sundown,
and johnmark the Coyote shadow, forming early/later, in the early morn/evening.

There is different lighting, even cloudy low light, things I have observed, as well
as early/later times on a sunny day, that can vary. I too, have seen things
change, to be quite interesting, maybe later in the day than what I
had previously been there before, observing, or taking pictures... :sunny: :fish:
:cross:
Then there's the trick, of using S/S to lead one astray,
to trick the observer into thinking something, other than
taking in the big picture, before you ever so much as turn
over a rock. I DO believe, that it is very important to take
compass readings and record them, before anything is
inspected further, especially in some circumstances...

everyone have some hot:coffee2:There are no set of instructions, or secret signs pointing to treasure deposits, its paying attention to the surroundings , and your spirit, you can call it anything you want, intuition or whatever, but don't be fooled , its your willpower , and determination, and your focus that will assist you in your time, try to think like they did once you Identify their trail and how they marked it, they are all different, with a lot of different markers, just figure out why they did it that way,they all have their own set of instructions. trust in your spirit. np:cat:

Hi Whiskeyrat

if you get to that La Rue Map Rock ( the HUGE boulder 600 yards south east of the cabin or 500 yards south
of the Sun Sign Boulder )

Climb up on the Map Boulder from the West side of it . turn to the Mountains

straight out to the east of you , there will be a very narrow , very steep canyon , almost an arroyo it is so narrow .

That is the Canyon , a lot of small trees in it .

Ok , walk up into that canyon , you will notice that at the top of the right wall of that canyon , is another narrow canyon
that drains run off into the canyon you are in .

so , it is a High Narrow Canyon that is very shallow , on the top of the right wall ( south wall )

The mine is UP there in that high canyon .
Interesting is , the mine entrance was painted on the map rock , the symbol for silver was next to the painted
entrance on the map rock .

Be aware that the Narrow steep canyon you go up to get to this Canyon with the mine in it , is a mean climb .

be also aware that in late spring , a Ball of Snakes that hibernate under a Big white Boulder near the mouth
of the lower canyon , all come out .

watch for those snakes , they are everywhere when they come out of that cave under the boulder .

I cannot tell from the G-E image , because it is more art then a picture .

I am not a big fan of snakes. but the 357 with birdshot is always ready.
about the climb, steep and tough climbs are good, I call them SOCIAL FILTERS, tough climbs keep the tourists away (so do distances of more than 1/4 mile from your truck) (sadly)
when i used to hunt elk in the Rockies, i looked for the steepest longest climbs, get above them, and presto, no other hunters and lots of elk. umm umm good eating.

so what is in the cave under the white boulder with the snakes guarding it??? have you explored that cave?
this one is definitely on my radar for exploration. cant wait to be able to spend the entire winter in New mexico (very soon)
I dont really need the silver that can be cut off with an axe, but i love the challenge to get there and maybe see some history.

i think i have already said it, but if not, i relate to and envy the life you and NP and others have been fortunate enough to live in the wilds.
any other treasures you are willing to point out, i do plan on exploring in person by camping there on site for weeks if necessary and getting to know each and every rock and each and every owl, snake and night creature that calls that area their home. i love them all (except the snakes perhaps). maybe i can learn to appreciate them too? ugh thats a stretch.
as far as people, so far, all my experiences have been great with the other treasure hunters, prospectors and ranches that i encounter.
maybe if i get too close to something that will change? we will see.

thanks again for all you do,
wr

I do trust in my spirit and my connection with nature but must say, i feel it will take a lifetime to get to the point than many on here like yourself have accomplished. the good news is, i have the rest of my life to do so and look forward to experiencing and learning all i can about these amazing mountains and their treasures and history. even if the treasure is only the hunt, i love it all.

The fascination with new mexico has already taught my wife and i more about true american history that we were ever taught in public education. what an eye opener. truly fascinating.

I am humbled that you refer to me as friend. I feel very much like a newbie compared to many on this site. I have been researching your endeavors and must say, you are a very impressive treasure seeker and finder from what i can see. one of the elite and a pleasure to be learning from.

Humbled With An 'Ole Border Patrol Guy, Calling You Friend?,

Hey, TM2, I been trying to find out, where exactly is Dark Canyon and Sardine Canyon????
not on any topo maps. most likely local names??
I have some ideas based on tidbits from all the books i have read, but is there any way to let me know just where they are for sure?
I would like to spend a few weeks in each of these canyons.
thanks

~~~ Dark Canyon Blues ~~~~~
Saw the light comin',,, shining
Shinin' down on me
Felt the Dark leavin'
settin' me ,,, settin' me free
Got to tell ya
it was pure ,,, pure ecstasy ,,,,
Confounded , by the Voices of entities
disembodied , tricksters of parodies
I'd wandered , through desert
devoid of water , without trees
too many days in the Desert
without Rain
Too many days in the Desert
wasting away in my pain
Lost in the Dark of a Canyon
where time stood still
Lost,,, feeling abandoned
wandering against my Will
I saw the light comin'' Shinin'
shinin' down on me
Felt the Dark leavin'
settin' ,,,, settin' me FREEEeeeeeeeeee
Takes a sight to see
takes a man of wisdom to be
Takes awhile for the sun to shine
on a Dark Canyon , to get free
Trapped in your mind
deluded by the voice of gold
out of step with time
as you slide out of youth
into growing old
Yellow brick road tale of wealth
holds no truth , ruins health
Saw the light comin' ,,, shinin' down on me
saw the light comin' shinin'
settin me free
Well it's just another day
without a dollar
Just another way
of wearin' a collar
trapped in what may be
Dark Canyon
Dark Canyon hauntin' me
Got to get out of Darkness
where I can be ,,,as
free as I wish to be ,,,,, to be
~~~~~ stop , the script on the site is messed up , I'll finish this when it straightens up ~~~~~

ran my program for spam bots , too many tracking cookies due to adds on this site .

slows the script / text to a crawl .

Roger,have some :coffee2: dark canyon blues reminds me of long ago when I got it in my mind that if I could track every were doc went and camped, then I would know were he spent the most time camping, like I said before, doc was a creature of habit, whenever he would camp no matter how long he would stay in one place he always took sardines and tomatoes in a can , there for all his camp sites were easy to find, but , after finding all there was to find, in the long run the knowledge helped, but it was really a waste time concerning doc, I was convinced by his wanderings he knew nothing about any treasure or had ever found anything of value,then there was ONFP what more need I say, NP:cat:

just reading thru "dark canyon blues" made me think of an old CCR song from the late 69's, early 70's.
?who will stop the rain?

Thanks Mann, i will add these to my gps and see if they check out. I appreciate the info. Have you been in these canyons personally?
wr

I have Dark canyon is steep but it is not very long. There is a cabin on the south east ridge where it runs into the mountain. Sardine canyon has several old mines and caves where it meets the mountain these mines are said to be a couple of Doc Noss's mines his name is painted on a few of them up there watch out for mountain lions.
