DOC NOSS-Victorio Peak OR The Caballo Mountains

Not to get off the subject, but why is their a Navy base in the Nevada desert ?

For more mysterys check out Secrets of the Mojave.

Following the Old Rio-Grande, may yeild old Spanish campsites.

The Navy shows up in lots of odd places. Back in the day, I remember attending hospital design meetings on the Navajo Reservation, administered by the Indian Health Service, an arm of the US Public Health Service. The IHS gummint folks showed up in naval uniforms. Below is the US Surgeon General's bling (who is commissioned as a Vice Admiral).

Tom Starr was one of Doc's alias'. Eve Ball says that Victorio also went by Starr,

Here's Terry Carter's latest - something for everybody here re Victorio Peak, etc. I don't know who the interviewer or his subject (obviously an accomplished bull-sh**er) are. I have gut level doubts about Swearingen and Mann however, and don't endorse anything said here. Your results may vary.

Dear Friends,
I am sorry to have to tell you that Not Peralta has gone on his last treasure hunt.
He served his country in Viet Nam.
He studied the Beale Legend.
He lived for a time in the shadow of the Superstition Mountains.
He hiked the mountain trails of Jonathan Swift.
We met while he was working in the Caballo Mountain area of New Mexico.
He spent the last years of his life with me, following the clues on Spirit Mountain.
If there was a treasure story, he knew it!
He enjoyed his interaction with you all and was proud of the success of his threads.
He told me that I was his treasure.
I'm going to miss him.
Sincerely, Mrs Not Peratla :cat:

This breaks my heart, so sorry to hear this. We all enjoyed his posts and looked forward to our good natured ribbing every day. He had a unique sense of humor and an absolute gold mine of knowledge that he shared freely with each and every one of us. He is and will continue to be sorely missed by all of us.

Godspeed, NP.

I will always be grateful to him, he also gave me permission to freely use it as I saw fit, in the book. etc He will have his place in history, and in the book.

My deepest condolences to you, Mrs NotPeralta - he was a good man and willingly shared of his vast knowledge ... he will be sorely missed

So very sorry to hear this. May He give you strength and comfort during this time. Lord, in thy mercy...

Dear Friends,
Thank -you so much for your kind comments.
I got to "know" many of you through discussions at the kitchen table.
He loved the debate, the exchange of ideas and information.
He always wanted to write a book but didn't know how.
Being on Treasure Net gave him the chance to share some of what he learned during his life.
I'm sorry I don't know you all but I must mention a few.
Markmar: I believe you were the first to actually LOOK at what he was saying. You may not have agreed, but at least you looked. Thank-you.
Tayopa: He was honored by your respect and friendship. Through your book he and the "lil map" will live on. Thank-you.
Roger: Hang in there and keep fighting. You know you met him in New Mexico, right?
Cactus Jumper: Every hero needs a good nemesis and a good argument.
Hey Starman: Now NP knows more than we do.
The streets may not be lined with gold
But I hope you find a few good nuggets.
Hoist a few :coffee2:and maybe add a little "Jack".
Thank-you for keeping him in you thoughts and prayers,
Mrs Not Peralta :cat:
