Do you need hunting spots??? TRY THIS!!! @@

I like the ad except for one line.

"We are more than happy to split whatever we find too."

I don't want to split anything. I want to keep it all.....

GREEDY,
C.C. LOL

Good luck with that. ;D
Each property owner is different. Some want everything you find, and some could care less and want nothing. I like the second one. ;D

It's like you are in my brain....I had the same idea about six months ago! Now I am definitely gonna do it!

Just a follow up...I placed an add, and just got a response, and permission to hunt on some property that looks promising! Will be hitting it up week after next, will keep you posted as to how it turns out...

This is a good way to get our hobby out there in front of people. I tried this a few weeks ago and got one email asking me if I knew of any bottle dumps. LOL. I was nice and responded that i hadnt. I didnt tell them that if I knew of one I would keep it a secret lol. I am sorry that is bad of me. TMAN...

I had never thought about this and didn't think it'd really work ... but ... I tried it this morning and already getting responses ...

Now if Spring would hurry up and get here I'd be all set.

Can we copy this word for word? I also have a question about how I would word this part though...

We are both adults with years of experience in the metal detecting hobby, and will respect your property if allowed to detect on it. We only dig small holes (approx 3”) to retrieve the item and then refill the holes.
Some of our finds include: Civil War relics, coins, jewelry, old bottles, toys, trade tokens, dog tags, lost items, etc.

It would be and my 13 y/o son and I with less than a year experience. Our finds have been nothing to brag about, nails, clad coins, pop tabs.

Any suggestions on how to word this would be greatly appreciated.

Sue

I revamped it to fit my situation ... I stated 3-5" hole ... ;D and I said I was only starting my 2nd yr in the hobby ...

Must admit ... It's darn good write up ..

Many Thanks

Personally, I think you will have someone over your shoulder the entire time you are there. From the way you worded your request, I wouldn't be surprised if they expect to take everything you find. Try to negotiate an agreement prior to starting your swing.

The second something of value is found, you will probably be shown the door ( gently) and said homeowner will quickly become a Ther.

I've read some wicked stories on the boards over the years on how people changed personalities in a flash the second something of value was found.

Just a heads up.

Great idea, though try to reformat your words.

HH

Just make your ad read how you like...I have placed ads and been hunting sites I have gotten that way for almost two years now...not one problem!

Dang what a great idea. Our local hometown radio has a website were you can post for free. Sort of a Swap and Shop. Everyone around uses the website so I'm going to post mine on there. Our own version of Craig's list I suppose.

I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Thanks for the idea...just got done posting my ad there.....hope it goes just as well for me as it did for you...thanks again

well I've already gotten a response from my Craig's list ad...Girl emailed me and wanted to know how much she should sell her metal detector for. That's all the information she gave me! Of course I emailed her back to ask some questions about the brand, model, etc.

Hey...at least somebody read my ad. Ha.

Hello.
Some of you may be trying to find some new MDing spots, or may want to detect a private property rather than parks, tot lots, etc.
I'm sure a lot of you have heard of, or visited, the Craigslist site at: WWW.CRAIGSLIST.COM .
On that site you can buy, sell, and list ads for FREE in your area (state & city).
I came up with the following ad to try to find myself some old properties to hunt. I put the ad on last night, and by this morning I already had two replies. Two eager property owners WANTING me to detect their places.
How easy was that!!!
Anyways, I thought some of you may want to give it a try. You have nothing to lose. Feel free to use my ad & just modify it as needed.
Good luck,
MM

Here are my two replies and my ad:

Hi Doug, We have land! Our family farm has loads of room for metal detecting. We have torn down 3 old houses & barns in the last 10 years. Our farm has been in my direct family line for 125+++ years. The houses were built by my Great Granddaddy as Sharecropper homes. I can only remember one that people lived in until the mid 1970's.
There should be lots of farm things to find..
Not sure what you might find but it would be fun to look. All the farm is now cattle pastures.

I live in Wake County and have a house that was built in early 1900 over four acres.
I'm interested in seeing what we can find.
Please reply.
Thanks

MY AD:
My friend and I are both members of a metal detecting club, and love to hunt for old relics, coins, etc. Not for profit, just for the excitement of digging up pieces of history.
We are currently looking for a few more places to detect. Mainly older homes and properties built before the 1950’s, or land that used to have a house or other activity on it.

If you have an old property, farm, or land that you wouldn't mind us detecting on, please give me a call. You would be surprised what is buried in the dirt that you don't even know is there.
We are more than happy to split whatever we find too.
Thank you,
Doug

Hey got my first hit guy wants me to find his ring thanks

You can also sign up as a ring detective at http://www.classringfinder.com/ but be ready to get emails from the site that are downright insane. Have gotten three lost ring gigs through it though.

just placed my first ad, will let you know if I get any replies!

I placed an ad from reading this thread a couple weeks ago. Got two responses. One was a picture of a gorgeous young blonde saying she read my ad and felt like we ought to be together. I showed my wife who is a county police official and we both agreed it was a pervert trap. Some officials use those to bust weak minded men so watch out fella's :tongue3:. She was awful good looking though and I replied I only wanted to metal detect and have eyes only for my wife ;D. The other response was some home business opportunity. I'll try again though, it's a good idea. Thanks MM.
