V4 will need to be installed if you plan on using the HF coil or integrate the pointer with your Deus. The pointer however can be used stand alone without V4. V4 also has some tweaks that you can take advantage of even without the HF coil or new pointer.

But to answer your question, yes V4 update will be released with the new hardware.
 

Any news on the pinpointed USA release date? I am foaming g at the mouth to get a new pinpointer!!!
 

I've heard nothing from US distributors. I think I read somewhere that it would probably be a month or so later than U.K. but don't hold me to that.

It will be released when it's released! They have the PP for pre-order now so it will be coming soon enough. Keep using and learning your machine, when V4 comes out you'll be even better at finding good targets.

With some much hype and waiting I hope it isn't a big letdown. I know I've been waiting on this update since I bought my deus a year ago and it's been talked about longer than that. More than frustrated now.
 

Yeah, same here. But at least major distributors are giving us info on it now, including prices, which is way more than we've ever had before. And then there's the emails XP has been sending out. So use your own judgement.

Personally, I think this could be it. Unless, of course, they find another bug.

I don't think I'll be waiting for it to come to American shores though. As soon as income tax comes in, I'm planning to preorder the pinpointer and the coil from Europe. The wait has been too long already.

Not sure what to make of this new image I just spotted. Didn't know the elliptical coil would be 80khz. I knew about the 55khz though. Anybody know anything about this?

Well if the elliptical is the only one able to go to 80 then that settles it for me. I was toying with the idea of getting the 9", but I'll wait for sure if that is true.

Seems like 15khz would be a waste on the 9" when you can already operate the stock coil at 18. (unless I am missing something).

That HF 9" must be targeted to those that only have a stock 11" giving the user the ability to hunt at 15 (like the atp freq) and the option to bump up two levels for small gold.

If you look at the image the 9" will do 15khz, 30khz, and 55khz
the elliptical will do 20khz, 40khz, 80khz but I would take the 80khz with a grain of salt.
 

Regardless, I think we are quite a ways off from getting either of those coils, and I am sure the higher frequency elliptical will take a lot of environmental testing, I can only imagine what EMI (perhaps even self generated) it would be subject to so that is probably even further off than the 9" 15 - 55khz coil. I have practically written off the coils for the near term and just hoping to get V 4.0 SW (with 2.5 Reactivity, fixed silencer behaviour, and extra memory slots) and that pinpointer.
