deus update sept 18th

All - We just got word that as dealers we will be able to order them, but we haven't yet been given a date in which to expect the product to ship to us. However I don't think it will be very long at all... and let me know if you would like to be added to our pre-order list.

Here is what I can share as well:
Pinpointer price - $199
9" HF coil price - $425

It looks like we all are finally going to be able get our hands on these new toys in time for spring hunts!

Might just do that. Waiting for income tax to come in and then I'll be in the market for one of each. Should be any day now.

Imho, the pinpointer and the new coils are pretty pointless until the software update is released. Pre-order in Europe is open already a few weeks and so I do not think that XP feels compelled to deliver the hard&software a few days after pre-order opened.

If you did not update your Deus before, you will also need a special cable. So add a few more bucks to get the full benefit of the new toys.

I may sound fussy but: I never order a not yet existing product, I never update any software until after a few months of the first release and I never buy the first series of anything.

My equipment is fine for me as it is at the moment and I ´ll gladly wait until a few opinions are out. Let others do the Beta testing.

Dont get me wrong, I trust XP and love my Deus, but I always fared well on that basic principles.

Regards

Man how boring. Definitely not a I-Phone user.

Rick,

had to grin.

But I have a 4 year old, never updated Iphone.

Thank you for Beta testing :-).

What special cable are you talking about? The Deus comes with all the cables you need.

Also, the update is fully reversible. Unlike most phone updates, you can fully roll back to Ver 2.0 if you wanted. They have really set up the software so there is little risk unlike the crap you are forced to update from the device manufacturers and phone companies. I deal with SW updates for a living and this is about as easy and low risk as it gets for upgradeable SW. In fact, I would gladly have used an Alpha version of this software if XP would have let us. They are so paranoid about releasing buggy SW this has been Beta Tested out the ying yang for almost 2 years. Come on in, the water is fine....

If you already got one in the package when bought fine for you! In my box, there were some goodies but no update cable.

My advise: If you do not have one order it with the new pinpointer or coil and save double postage.

I do not have any connection to above seller, was just the first google hit I got.

True, update could be rolled back. I remember vaguely downloading an updater from XP in this you could have rolled back.

vFerrari, the version 2.0 was not as good as the current one (3.4?, forgot). IF rolling back I would take the current one not 2.0.

Thing is, its really rolling good for me in the current version. I will not buy the new hardware for a time (not until I loose or kill another pinpointer), so changes for me should be minimal. Reactivity 2.5 sounds interesting to try, but otherwise really nothing that would help.

EDIT to remove somethings :)
I see there are more tidbits in the Ads that are posted then was talked about before :) Bring it on XP we have been waiting long enough. I hope we do not have to wait for the actual products to be released before they drop V4

You need to go back to whoever you bought it from and get it. I'm assuming your Deus came with a remote, because that's what gets updated.

V 4.0 should be released once they start shipping the new products. USA dealers are getting their orders into the US distributor as we speak. I'd expect we should have product for the preorders by sometime in March.

Naxmat, I don't believe there is anything special about that cable... just find a standard USB cable with the proper ends and you will be able to install the update in your remote.

Yes I would roll back to 3.2, also if I had to. Not expecting to have to. Some of the early adopters of Deus liked some of the 2.0 functionality so they kept it there. Change is hard when you get used to how something operates and there is no real perceived benefit. I am not expecting this with 4.0 and am ready to embrace it. Besides reactivity 2.5, I am liking the ability to tweak the built in programs and save the tweaks which effectively increases the number of custom programs you can store and hopefully the will fix the Reactivity/Silencer default bug/"feature". Really not anticipating any downside to 4.0 even if I do not pick up any of the hardware. But I will be picking up the hardware. ha.

Doesn't seem like an upgrade thread discussion without Deft Tones in here mocking us for getting all excited about this impending release.
