🥇 BANNER MY OLDEST GOLD COIN!!!

MY OLDEST GOLD COIN!!!
Most of this week has been sub-zero temperatures & the ground was frozen to about 3 inches but the snow didn't start until after we had finished 4 hours hunting new fields. We tried 3 of the 4 sprayed off fields (failed crops) which are close to our Roman Sites but we have never tried. I got the shock of my life when 1 hour into the hunt & whilst wandering about the 2nd field I dug my oldest coin ever :headbang: We went on to grid this area with no other signs, including no lead. So someone was looking over me today & my Gold streak continues...

🥇 BANNER Qrter Stater Field - Day 5...16th C Gold Ring!!!

Qrter Stater Field - Day 5...16th C Gold Ring!!!
Beautiful day again & after our moderate success yesterday we were both ready for a bit of a slog, it seemed like payback time was due :P
We were nearly right because at the 2 hour point (total day was 3.5 hours), we only had 1 Roman coin & a few buttons. Once again the difficult field just blow me away with a Gold Ring that looked so Gold it had to be real old.....Although in the field I couldn't be sure it wasn't Georgian or Victorian so got the best surprise researching tonight :headbang:

Other finds of the day:
Barrel Tap Key
1897 Sixpence
Some good Buttons
1 Lead Token

This is what...

🥇 BANNER 2000 YEAR OLD GOLD COIN...UPDATE

2000 YEAR OLD GOLD COIN...UPDATE
Today was my last day off as I return to work tomorrow (after an extended X-Mas Holiday  ). Thankfully there was a break in the wet & very windy weather. I'm glad I didn't try yesterday, as the only road/lane to the field had a huge tree blown across it (cut & cleared now), must have been yesterday which would have blocked my way back with the bike. :o
I spent 4 hours on my own continuing the rather difficult land I started to grid recently. I was having a bad few hours & my mind was dreaming up a likely good find from this field, the best I was hoping for was a complete Medieval...

🥇 BANNER 1836 Gold $5 piece

1836 Gold $5 piece
I have found some awesome old finds on the beaches of South Florida recently but none more exciting than this 1836 gold half eagle, classic head type 1834-38. What started out as just another Sunday evening beach hunt turned into an unexpected beach relic hunting adventure covering several more evenings over a three week period. I spend countless hours researching and metal detecting at what I refer to as ugly beaches, places that do not get searched as much as the well known over hunted sites. I hoped that one day this beach hunting strategy would pay off and I would find a site that had...

🥇 BANNER Civil War Relic Hunting at its Finest: A GRAND SLAM Of A Site!!!

Civil War Relic Hunting at its Finest: A GRAND SLAM Of A Site!!!
VIRGIN CIVIL WAR CAMPSITE

Hey Guys :hello:, well I must say, sites like this don't come along too often. This site has everything that you could ask for in a Virgin Civil War site and ALOT

of it: Plates, Buttons, Bullets, Accoutrements; A GRAND SLAM! The area is known to me and I've dug alot of good stuff from sites near this one. This was private property and it just

so happened that I was able to gain permission as soon as it was opened up and realized that I was on a stellar site when I swept the coil and couldn't make a single sweep without...

🥇 BANNER THE MIGHTY NORSE GOD LOOKED AT ME !!! (Update !!)

THE MIGHTY NORSE GOD LOOKED AT ME !!! (Update !!)
Hi TNetters :icon_thumleft:

Today I had this feeling, I don´t know if you have experienced it, you hold your breath and the small hairs on the back of your neck rise and you get goosebumps ! :wav:

I was searching my newly found place from the Iron age. Many brooches and other finds have come from this place during the last two weeks. The finds reach from the Roman Iron Age about 100 AD to the early Viking Age about 800 AD.

I had a very good signal with my Vaquero and picked up a smal item full of dirt.
At first I thought it was some modern item like a small devise from a motor or some...

'Ole' Sambo didn't make the banner so I was really happy to see it in W&E magazine.

Hey Gang, Two weeks ago I dug what I thought was an old bracelet. At first glance, I thought it was one of those copper arthritis...

🥇 BANNER TREASURE - RARE VIKING SILVER INGOT...UPDATE

TREASURE - RARE VIKING SILVER INGOT...UPDATE
I think I'm finally getting the hang of this detecting lark :laughing7:

Dad & I went out today expecting a few Roman Coins as I had decided to carry on from where I had the Roman Silver last week. On the very first run after 5 minutes & 3 digs into the hunt, out pops a Silver Ingot. I look at it & immediately think Viking, but hold on a second we are on the edge of a Roman site :icon_scratch: So I begin convincing myself it must be Roman but might be Viking :dontknow: After some quick research I found the following:

🥇 BANNER My Most Amazing Coin Find Ever: CLEOPATRA I AS ISIS 204-180 B.C.

My Most Amazing Coin Find Ever: CLEOPATRA I AS ISIS 204-180 B.C.
Last week, in anticipation of my friend Rob a.k.a. RTDE 3 coming down to dig with me, I went out to reconnoiter some sites for us to hit during the weekend. I decided to check out a site that I have permission to hunt but that I hadn't been to since last summer. This was the site that produced alot of nice finds for me including the King Rama V Copper and the last time I had been there was probably last August when I took my friend and diggin' partner Jeff a.k.a. UMRGolf. I had permission to hit both the front and back yards but since the back was very grown up we never really were able to...

🥇 BANNER 1817 Servant Slave Tag from the Plantation!!

1817 Servant Slave Tag from the Plantation!!
I dug this servant slave tag on May 8th at a plantation in South Carolina. The tag was folded over when I dug it, so I had it straightened by a professional. My friend Mark was with me when I dug it and had recovered his own servant tag, an 1811 servant, the week before at this same place.
This 1817 dated tag is an early date for the slave hire badges, since the earliest known date on any tag is the year 1800. The number 67 is the issue sequence for the occupation of servant which the city of Charleston, S.C. issued during that calender year. Thanks for looking!
