Whats the average age of T-Netters If U dont mind

I have been detecting off and on or 38 years (since 1977). I found an 1882 Morgan dollar twenty minutes of getting my first detector.

On Christmas I'll be 67, been dumpster diving since I left the service in 1972.....Joe McDonough

I didn't mention it but it seems like the topic includes a few things I left out. I have two kids (5&2) and started detecting in December 2013. Metal detecting has become a healthy "drug" to me and good release of energy. I don't get much time but try to detect several times a week for 1/2 hour. I'm hoping once the little guy is old enough that he'll come along, allowing me to detect for a little longer.

Anyway, I like this thread. It shows a spectrum of members and the various phases of life we're all experiencing

My son is turned 8 in march, been hoping the same thing for years (that he will want to go with me) B/t So far Video Games & the Lap Top are his thing, I offer to buy him his own detector at-least Once a Month.

That's easier said than done. I blew a couple of disc's in my lower back, and the pain was terrible, the skin on my left leg felt like it was on fire and not just my back hurt, but my leg hurt down to my left knee. Signed up for an operation to get it fixed, and had to wait in line for my turn. By the time of the operation there was still pain, but it was getting better and I should have just let it go at that point. But I went ahead, and she did something to my sciatic nerve on the right hand side that really weakened that leg, and my left leg was even worse, to get in the car I had to pick the leg up with my hands, but all the pain was gone. By now, my left leg is getting stronger than my right leg, but both legs are weak, and I can't walk far. I've thought about detecting with a walker, which basically be taking my chair on wheels with me, and every now and then I could sit and rest. You know, park the walker, detect the area, rest a bit, move the walker and detect. Use a long handled shovel to dig targets. I'd have to get someone to stay with my wife and I'd be good to go. Just might do that after it starts raining and the ground is a little easier to dig.

Sorry you can not get out anymore, but your Wisdom always Shines in your posts .
Best Wishes

Damn ya Davers.... I've been hunting for the other half of mine. But seriously ... I have found so MANY half horseshoes it's silly. I bet I find 9-1 half shoes over whole shoes. Hell, GA. is just a little south of me. Probably the same horse and shoe. Ever get up this way let me know.... We'll find the "other" half quickly!!!!

29 here, and I've been detecting for about 5 years or so.

Been picking up fossils, rocks, relics, seashells and points since i was a toddler... And started connecting the collecting of things with history about the time i could start reading.

Good thread, OP.
I always wondered what kind of diversity we have in the hobby.

A Great bunch of people, indeed.

I been busy since since yesterday & just now read all the Replys.
Let me say it's been VERY ENJOYABLE with some great reply's
I wish that I was able to respond to all of them.

Good to see so many people getting out & feeling young no matter what your age.

Also like many of y'all , I 'Mentally' feel & act like I'm still in my 20's.
&
Even tho the aches have started , I plan to detect till I Die.

Best Wishes & Good Fortune to all.

39, I've been detecting off and on for about 21 years. Act 15 to 23, I only act my age when I have to(at work)!! and body feels like 70 at times! :laughing7: I know enough about computers to do what I need to. Not really my interest. This site, a kawi site and another prospecting site from one of the sponsors are the only social media type stuff I'm into. I've spent more time on the computer in the past year or so than I ever have. :laughing7:

78 and my detecting days are about done. Get down to dig a target, can't get up. Worse though is wife's handicapped, she can't be left alone. Been detecting since the mid 60's. Started with a White's BFO unit. Found some good stuff, but never got rich. Lots and lots of history though.
Bosen, don't ever forget how valuable you are here..

Only 53 & Started this hobby in 1985..where's time go??
