TH.... If your about 65 and feel like 35 then your probably going to live to be 100+. And it's probably because of that Asian diet your wife has you on.... stay with it!!!! :occasion14:

It's too late for some of us.... I'm going down with a fried chicken bone in one hand, bar-b-cue all over my face and a greasy pork chop in the other!!!!! :tongue3:

Well, sometimes I get a hankering for something different; instead of 'good cooked' food. I took a large plate of salad, iceberg lettuce, a little red cabbage, and shredded carrots with a little coleslaw dressing on it. Then I toasted a hamburger bun in the toaster, put a slice of American cheese, a slice of jalapeno cheese, and a slice of Swiss cheese on the bun and heated it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. I just love this occasionally.

Late yesterday evening, I took out a container of the gin-soaked raisins that I had in 'fridge. I've been eating about 10 of them each morning for several weeks. Since I haven't really seen any results, I sat there and ate about 3 tablespoons of them for a 'before bedtime snack'. lol

Texasred were the gin soaked raisins for arthritis pain? Your non burger burger sounds good, especially the jalepeno cheese. Were having burgers tonight with some unsalted potato planks.

Fresh caught, fried bass chunks with baked potato...I release all bass over 5 pounds but I keep the smaller ones every now and then.

Chicken noodle soup. Follows a turkey sandwich for lunch.(I,m bacheloring it again) and a bottle of three year old dandelion wine. Them raisins if tossed in this bottle might jump back out and go yipe,yipe.yipe. L.o.l..
lookindown younger bass are better eating for sure. Some other fish too if fatty types.

My dad and I caught some large channel cats in the Tennessee river and they weren't near as good as the 1-3 pounders.

Yep I only keep the smaller channel cats for eating. Usually if they still have the little black dots on em then they're good for the frying pan. I just take a pic of the big ones and send em back. A little tip for cooking channel cats is to soak the fillets in milk for a few hours before cooking. It takes the strong fishyness taste out

CoilyGirl, no the gin-soaked raisins weren't for arthritis, just thought they might help all the other little ailments. I get up some mornings a bit stiff, my left knee has almost no cartilage left, etc. I've really been lucky. If I have any arthritis, it's not enough for me to recognize it. As I said, I do have some stiffness, especially on some mornings when I first get up. It's never been a problem, but noticeable. I do have quite a bit of stiffness in my finger joints; but no pain.
After eating the gin-soaked raisins for several weeks, I just don't see any improvement; so I've began eating a few spoonsful when I think about it in the evenings.

Gin soaked GOLDEN RAISINS worked for both my mother and I, do not use regular raisins you need white also called golden raisins and be sure the gin is made from juniper berries. Gordon's London Dry Gin is made from juniper berries.. Most of the bottom shelf cheap gin is only flavored with juniper not made from juniper...

Grappa gets a grip on ya,no lie! Brad TH IS right, you've gotta use white raisins and gin made from juniper berries, not the rotgut.

Home made Tamales. Not made by me...I have waited 2 weeks for these. A friend of mine is from Mexico, and the way his family cooks, is better then any Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten in. When ever he has a birthday party or any other celebration...my wife, daughter and I are the only "gringos" invited. Last time it was chili rellenos. Everything home made. When he tells you...that salsa is hot....best believe!:laughing7:
Mexicans get a bad name, but I can tell you what...when my wife and daughter show up, all the men remove their sunglasses. I asked jamie...( pronounced hymee) why. Respect he says. With the sun glasses on, their eyes can..wander. Without I can see whats going on.
Carne asada next week i'm told:icon_thumright: :headbang:

TH, yes I used the golden/white raisins; but not sure about the gin. I forgot to check about the juniper berries. I may have to try it again. But as for arthritis, I have never noticed any and I'm 72 yo today.

Viking, my son-in-law found a lady that makes tamales and brought home a dozen about a week ago. Most of them I've seen up here have a really thick outer dough/crust/shell that kills the taste of the rest of the tamale. I'd never seen any of them like this before moving here from Texas. My son-in-law specified that these have a thin breading. They were quite good. First decent ones I've had since I left Texas! I've ate a few canned ones, and they're not bad, just not as good as home made.
