Video 4 - The Peralta Stone Maps with Frank Augustine

Was out doing research on the stone maps today for video 6 - and came across this.

thoughts?

The entrance goes in about 5 feet past the small opening - then you have about a 25 foot shaft down - then a tunnel entrance continues on from the bottom. I didn't make it to the bottom to see where the lower tunnel goes or how long it is.

I want to see more on this. =)

Frank and I were granted a private viewing of the stone maps today - at the museum. I promised everyone I was doing a lot of research on this video - and now I'm pretty happy to say it includes a lot of shots / video like this one.

Notice the heart - and the tape that was covering it - years ago! That heart was drawn on by a pencil.

Meeting with Mr Greg Davis tomorrow to wrap up this video.

I want this to be the best video to date.

Looking forward to it Ryan.
I'm also hoping you managed to get more photos of the museum stones, and will share them, since this shot has the best resolution of any I have seen so far.
Pretty interesting that the heart and "M" appear to have been drawn with a pencil. Even more so, is that Mitchell elected to conceal it for the Life Magazine photo shoot, as well as for the photos he used in his own publications. Makes me wonder if it was just more showmanship on his part, or that he actually knew more than I previously gave him credit for.

Regards:SH.

There are about 50ish photos similar to that one and a handful of videos - in slow motion - detailing every nook and cranny.

Here's another

cursum perficio

a. Highly guarded secret and no one is talking.
b. No one knows.

I'm going with answer b.

Expound on the obscure
Ignore the obvious

A tough one, but it's been located.
Three symbols. A carved heart and a triangle, of the same size, with a smaller circle in circle just below. All on the same large boulder.
Latin as well, with one word which does not appear on the drawing.
Although eroded somewhat by time and the elements, it is as close to "Perficio" as one could expect it to be.

Cursum perficio = my journey ends here...

This is very interesting....,,,

Assuming you are referring to the picture of the paper trace.
Merely an "index" carved in stone.

cursum:

Hiked it
Mapped it
Studied it
Cursed it

Found it (cursum) over 30 ago.
Only recently found out someone had named it.
We just called it the "line".

perficio:

Without a doubt.

This is the wrong thread to be discussing this topic.
Oh wait
There is no thread on this topic.
Sigh

This ' cursum perficio ' is an Attempt ( invalid IMO ) to combine the latin heart clues with the stone Cross clues .
The heart on the stone Cross , shows only in what direction is situated the heart in relation with the cross's direction .
The Cross runs diagonally on the stone trail and use only two clues from the stone trail , which are the two vaults . The other clues on the Cross are land shapes and are different than in the stone trail .

Great Photo's Ryan.

The close up of the trail map hole gives away a lot about the making of the piece. I can see what looks like air bubbles trapped in between the mold from the casting of the Map with some sort of cement.

Looks fake or recast.

But is does coincide with the belief they were of a gray colored stone or similar. But it sure looks like a casting not a carving.

I believe doesn't matter if the maps are original or copies , or were painted/carved on any material . If the copies are accurate , will work the same .

Gee, and here I thought I was the first since A.R.
Didn't seem like anyone had been around for a LONG time. Even 30 years seems a bit short, but maybe that's enough.
Since you have been there and studied the rock (s), I won't bother posting the other latin word, but I consider it an important clue to the reason for the carvings. I'll also withhold the photos, just in case we're on a different channel.
I didn't see anything however, that would suggest a "line".

I'm skinny and have caving /spelunking experience. PM me if you can't find someone to go into it. I have no fear with tight spaces.

Congrats on finding it Wayne - I know you've spent more than a fair amount of time on the lookout for it! That in itself is a historic thing - Jim Hatt would be the first to pat you on the back and want to go out and see it with you :).

Take care

I second that. Pretty damn significant discovery! To have found that which Abe Reid spoke of long ago, and for which others have searched for so long- including Al Reser, Jim, et al.

Very happy for SH.

Thanks!! Another forum member here contacted me. Verified the coordinates - and told me a close friend of theirs went down. They found some mining tools - but that was it.

Seems someone around 2012 broke apart the side staircase of the house - and dug down looking for "something".

Maybe the owners of that property had something that gave someone a reason to dig. Looks like we are all about 3 years late.

Still a pretty cool find. Never know what the superstions hold!

Although it would have been a pleasure to have been able to give Jim the satisfaction of knowing the rock was a tangible, it wasn't to be.
Likewise to have been able to justify his faith in the stone crosses as part of the package, a faith I shared and which ultimately led me to the CP boulder.
I've never asked where his ashes were released, but I fervently hope that some part of him settled within sight of that rock.

it looks like some of the cast copies had the heart engraved, even though
the img Ryan shows it is a pencil mark/drawing and has a tape mark
