Too Hot to Dig...

Kiros,
I called that carving a monkey in a helmet because that's what it looked like to me. Now, as to why a monkey face, I don't really know. Why would the early trail makers use a gorilla head, a fish, elephants, etc. It was part of their code system that THEY knew, but we are still researching and learning.

Hmm... so they used Monkey's wearing helmets as treasure markers? I would check for a profile of Charlton Heston or the Statue of Liberty as your next clue... ::) ::)

Never expect a straight answer from this bunch.

Warrior monkeys in Indian legends are not uncommon, and often wear hats or helmets. Treasure related? probably not. Ancient? most likely.

Dear Sir,

I do not consider his post a direct question, so I personally feel that he does not deserve a "straight" answer from me or "this bunch". However your info that I have seen so far is true and correct and I do personally thank you for that.

Dear Sir,

Check my next post, I was only kidding, lighten up!!!

consider me N Lighted up. I pi--ed someone off a while back with an attempt at humor and he left and took his posts with him. (sniff sniff :-[) But he did come back and attact me so I must still be on his mind?

Monkeys with helmets, sitting while holding a staff, or doing other things I would consider human activities.....at this time I believe any interpretation will depend on the surrounding S/S if present. Therefore sometimes there is no "straight, simple meaning," based on one sign alone. I will post a pic that you might view as a CH profile and/or a male statue of liberty? (got to look it up....see following post)

oddrock, I am enjoying this topic very much. Thank you!
I live in Colorado and have been interested in seeing some of the S/S along the Colo River by Grand Junction, that olddog maybe has a lot of pix of.

I have Mike Picketts and the Kenworthy book about S/S and find the history behind the signs fascinating. But I have great difficulty seeing the visual clues most folks here see. Just not tuned in to my surroundings. So please keep up your great pix and insights about treasure! I love it.

I do not recall if it is the monkey or ape....it was believed they carried two little ones. The one they loved in front and the one they disliked on their back. When in danger they would drop and leave the one they loved. Old Christian story.

Oddrock.. this is the closet thing I've found to a shadow witch.

The key thing to me for this one..if this is a shadow witch..is shape of hat. It only pops out toward evening. Earlier in day it looks like this. Heh..just noticed if you look below those eyes on the right...that eyed figure could be construed as a monkey face straight on to. hahaha.

Kim,

Thanks for posting your photo. Looks witchy to me. This photo was made Oct.5. It only last for a few minutes also.

Weird...I wonder if the signs are of different eras and that's why it is reallly confusing..well..more so than the usual confusion that i have almost all the time. Probably crystal clear to some others

The white paint stuff seems to have religious over tones.

Question for you..does a trail go on to your right as you look at the picture? And perhaps behind the rocks? Sort of an angle.
l take it there is a spring nearby if not at this exact spot? Perhaps covered?

Well..speculating here..but the horsehead ear seems to point the way rather than its nose..that is news to me.

Though there are several different stories it might be telling...my first WAG is...something is buried at the spring. It is not insignificant. And it is all pretty close...ummm...hmmmm.. To really go out on a limb...it is 5 or 10 units of measurement away..or deep. Perhaps directly behind the formation..or to the right of the picture.

Need to study it more. Its confusing to see what i consider water signs and other signs so close together. And where is momma bird.. I do not see her. One thing.,.the horses and mules are not going to like where they have to go.

Confused yet? I know i sure am hahahahah :tongue3: :tongue3: :tongue3:

Kim,

Confusing, of course that was intended. Weird?..different eras...yep...and there is a bird...not exxactly momma looking...but there is a nest represented to the right with one egg in it. Water is not an issue nearby so could be a representation of the trail ahead?
Maybe more later...been looking for a photo of what the Witch/Priest morphs into....thought I must of deleted....crap ,,,.. think I removed the shadows and saved it that way...maybe I can correct it tomorrow.

Brent,

always enjoy your insight. That would be one big clanger. If i can post the other shadow sign tomorrow it may change something.

Shortstack,

The arrow on the tree, I consider a marker by a "later" group. (remarking and related)

Dear rangler,

Since I have asked you a few direct questions and you have not answered me,... I will bother you no more. Feel free to continue correcting me as you see fit....

Thanks for the reply, Oddrock. Man, I confused some folks with my "helmeted monkey" comment didn't I? Here's a sketch showing why I called it that.

this pic was also made on Oct. 5, a little later in the day. (by the way Kim, is this the date your shadow sign shows up the best?) We think two birds are represented on one nest, to the left. The other nest I mentioned earlier has one large egg in it and is approximately 10 varas north.
Back to this pic....notice what shows up above and to the right part of the old shadow sign. See who spots the shadow box first?
