We keep our pantry full anyway, so it's always a bit amusing to see the craziness at Wal-Mart every time there's a gloomy forecast. Does nobody keep bread, milk, or toilet paper on hand?

I put a pot of beans on to make chili later. (This ain't Texas, we can put beans in chili...)
Ok what us this alignment of bean thoughts 🤔
I put on for soaking the Navy beans and the Cranberry beans.
Added baking soda to accelerate the soaking process.

Maybe the cold weather?

It's different types though. I used a mix of black beans, great northern beans, and pinto beans. Three bean chili, I suppose.

I have them going for an 8-hour soak. I never tried adding baking soda.

Like this but with hot (mild) peppers. Never garbanzo beans ! My recipe has additions/subtractions....... Quite the roadmap of yes, + a teaspoon ,and crossed off hell no's.

Good morning all. It's a lovely 7 degrees (F) outside this morning. I got up early, stoked the wood stove, made some coffee, turned on the sun lamp, and now I'm pretending I'm in Florida.

The UPS guy brought a large box down the driveway by hand yesterday. I thought this very strange, since they normally just drive down here. But when I went to get the mail, I found that a treetop had cracked off from the ice and fallen directly into the driveway. That would do it. Miraculously, it completely missed the brand new fence that was directly between the tree and the driveway.
