Probably everyone has heard at one time or other about a dog eating a diamond ring/or other valuable. Owner has to follow it around, sort through the daily business. Well my chicken sniped a white milk glass cuff button before I could bend down. I was getting the phone of my pocket, and there was Salt & Pepper standing there. Now her new nickname is buttons.

Question has anyone detected with chickens before? They can hear a beep (even through the headphones) high tones they come a flying! Now I had seen this in England at a B&B I was staying at. They had chickens, and I was detecting the back yard, it took only a few holes for them to figure out what was up. Hole=worms. High tone he digs=get there first!

So my chicks are 9weeks old, had them out detecting when they were 8 weeks old. They remember the high tones he digs. 6 half flying running chicks from 50 feet away-simply amazing.
Lost my first target-why? They kicked out of the way, and I found it down the hill a bit. Photo explains why.
The other photo is of the little pirate buttons.
This is worse than detecting at a tot lot full of kids-stepping on the detector-looking in the hole-gabbing the finds. They must of did a 1 Km of trails and bush today. :laughing7:

Forgot to say the find in the roots is a 1/2" sq. little buckle.

Unfortunately, I have to report that there was nothing except modern trash at this residential site yesterday. :unhappysmiley:
Oh well, you never know what you're going to find unless we investigate.

Good morning ARC, pepper, and bill.....the early risers ! I too have trouble sleeping past 5:00 am.

Ooops....and dave !! Good morning.

Nah... they don't bite unless you roll over on them :P
Mind you they do squawk when stepped on, hit with shovel/coil/tree limb/stick.
Need some secure fencing-babysitting their free range takes up too much of the day.
Now if we didn't have Racoons, Mink, Weasels, Fishers, Coyotes, and rat killing Jack Russel that lives the hamlet then life would be easy.
(Note to Jack Russel-your days #'d-I will live trap you and put you in a pound 150km away)!:BangHead:

Good morning peoples

Morning Dave, bart.
