Good morning WD

Good morning bill and WD

I wish the bugs, grubs, squirrels, chipmunks, skunks, racoons, groundhog, insects would leave my poor garden alone. Why on earth would you like my space so much, you all have lots of everything to munch down on, yet mine is better it seems.
Nothing hurts more than going and looking at something popping out of the ground, sprouting, going to make a plant which might bare fruit to feed and for me to reseed-to be eaten the very next day! :BangHead:

My patience is wearing thin critters/bugs/and even to you slugs, leave it alone or else.
There I feel better now. :laughing7:

My garden seems to be doing fairly well considering the gardener has 2 black thumbs. I had unwanted visitors in the beginning. Last week I was raking up grass to put down around the plants. When mr WD saw me , he came over and said,” I was wondering why you were raking the grass. I was going to tell you to leave it.” Our grandsons were over that night also. When they were leaving, mr WD noticed 3 bags of grass clippings in the truck bed. So they carried it over and I put it in the garden. Reeks of cat and dog pee and poop. But I haven’t noticed any unwanted activity this week. Put some more grass down yesterday. About half way done. Will post pics on GP&M.

That night, Mr WD asked, “ Where did you learn about putting the grass in the garden?”
My reply, “ That dude in Canada, Bill from Lachine.”
LOL “dude”

Jim,
don't know the size of your garden but the insect row covers seem to work for us.

It's a case of the doing it and getting ahead of the problem.
Between the two gardens there's 650ft of rows.
I understand that the whole thing wouldn't have to be covered. But the bug edibles have to be.

jim,

Well the 2 insect pests which are the biggest problem for us are leaf miners(they hit the swiss chard & spinach type of plants) and the other is the cabbage moth(those tend to go after any members of the cabbage family, ie; brocholi, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, kale, etc...).

We've also been putting up about 2 feet high of 1/2" holes netting just held up with small bamboo sticks. It to wobbly for squirrels, and other 4 legged critters to climb so that seems to help.

I'll post up a picture shortly so you can see what I mean.
