Running a little late today. I haven’t had a garden in 12 years. So this is a true chore for me. I’m planting a bunch of peas, squash, okra and sunflowers for the bees and other critters.

I just got the orders from the boss to plant ours this weekend. We don't have much. A couple tomato and pepper plants. Some seeds I just got planted in a cup, that haven't even sprouted yet. We will see what I end up with.

Ordered a couple books yesterday on Michigan mines and native copper, planning to detect some native copper this summer...

I don't know what it's like on your side of the state , but stuff is buried deep here near waterways. Spring sediment distributions ect..
Forested areas have the accumulated loam from centuries of leaves.

One site I've left alone is downstream of some mounds.
There are mounds farther downstream , none of which were burial type.
(Yes , we;re getting away from copper culture . but maybe the woodland cultures found the same sites as good camps? Or had relics from earlier times?)

Anyways...An old Sioux now passed on to a camp in the sky (yes ,a Sioux in Mi.) used to poke around downstream of the upper mounds and found relics eroded out and tumbled downstream.

You have a source of lithic material near the Sag. bay that saw travel ,and material relayed away from.
Maybe the copper from further NorthWest found an intersection /route through your area.

Some writings confuse the goins ons. I don't want to insult the authors who mention a cache relay system ,or routes copper followed ,or who "mined" copper....
But I'll hold that copper found mobility through hand to hand for a very long ways.
Finding thin historic layers of loam or erosion might help.

I've not found copper relics , but a couple small pieces of suspected float copper.
An "Uncle" recovered copper knives. He's gone now so I can't ask the hows and whys of the site , but it was long attended by earlier people.
It was lake and small stream related. Not unlike another area not far from it (an easy days warm season travel) where a "pickle" field turned up lots of relics when first turned.
What that field looked like thousands of years ago we didn't know. But the water was far enough away that humans camped near it would not bother (by detection) that field area.
Dad always wanted to search around two giant white pines near. For some reason suspecting relics near them.
Never heard of him detecting it. And unlikely just walking it would reveal anything sighted.
One of a few sites now out of reach...With varied stories associated.

Good researching is wished to you on your interest into the copper culture. It ranged far...

I went to the local nursery yesterday wearing my mask and ask for squash plants. She said they didn't know when they would get any. She said more people are going back to gardening because of the shortages at the stores. I'm glad I had stored some seeds. Planted squash this morning. It's a bit late here but I believe I'll have squash. I'm going to wait on the okra. As the ole saying goes, plant your okra when farmers plant cotton. I even squeezed some Rattle snake pole beans in about 30 minutes ago. Hoping for a tab of rain later in the week. Good luck with yours.

Well....I may have crossed the line yesterday. For 2 years a customs and border patrol chopper has been tasked with surveillance on our wood lot. I have no idea why....and doubted they were actually watching us. Every week at least once a week they will circle low with all there little PTZ cameras scanning us. Well yesterday was the last straw in our helicopter debate. I said to my partners girlfriend (who babbles about choppers following her) your crazy this chopper is monitoring something else close by. I told her that on the next pass I'm gonna drop my drawers and moon them. So I did...for a long time I slapped my lily white arse with both hands and pants around my ankles. To my shock and surprise they are surveilling us !! This chopper came to treetop level and hovered directly over me filming me. I got pretty tired of slapping my arse for 2 minutes and finally pulled my drawers up and gave them the double bird !! Immediately it turned pointed west and took off at full speed !! They know that we know that there watching us now !! Not to sure what it's all about but the ball is in there court now.....f**k em !!

Someone drop a dime on you regarding treasure hunting?
Or for some other reason...

Now if I was there , very little activity would be noticed.
You know , folks hit the warm climate and sprawl out/flop/chillax...
Meanwhile Bart is stirring up a cloud of dust or a wet wake for many miles.

MY first guess would be drug moving investigations. Boats. Long runs. Proven ability to ply waterways ect..
That's not meant as an insult on my part.

The only other thing that comes to mind is local zoning suspected violations. Commercial operation in a residential zone for example.
But frequent helo visits /observation would not be needed for that.

You being ambitious and the resources to carry out a project might factor in being noticed.
Still ....Someone dropping a dime nags as a possibility.
And no you don't need to have done anything wrong for that to happen. Just people that are (censored/certain anatomy part you offered the helo) , crabs in a bucket pulling down the one trying to climb out type.

I like the idea of hitting creeks down stream from mounds, I want to find some native float copper and thats what I aiming to do with the books i have on the way...

Well we will just see....cause now we cant wait to play....call me when they make there passes and I'll put on my patric starfish costume and run around the yard like a madman !! Or possibly gorilla costumes !! Gonna start filming back too. Who knows it could be one of the close neighbors too. Or they dont like old pirates gathering and cabaling in one spot !! They buzzed me at a distance on the boat this morn and already circled my partner 3 times this morn at the wood lot....or should I call it the pirate nest !! Haaa ha this is hilarious !! I'm looking forward to the next passes....after all it's been going on for a few years now and I've just showed them my arse !!

Good afternoon all!

Bart...did you refuse your covid test again? I’d say jealousy is in the mix.

ECS, was that your Brazilian wax I used on the plank?

Congrats Toecutter awesome find!

WHADIFIND maybe that place is like my field that has been used as a furnace dump years back. It gets crazy with ground balance at times.

Good morning, WHADI.

I get this feeling you are like me when it comes to learning. You need someone right there by your side explaining everything.

Are you a blond, too? :laughing9:
Wellllll.....now that you mention it....waaaaay back when I was a rug rat...my hair was soooo blonde it was white!! That help?

Didn't you get that from the Captain's stash?

Did someone say "captains stash" ? ? ?

Hmmm
