On top of the other crap going on....our oven is on the fritz....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

So here this the missus phoned a couple of local appliance repair guys and since the do house calls the government advised them the stop working to avoid spreading the virus....:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

So here we are possibly heading towards a quarantine situation without a functioning oven....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7: so after some quick research we picked up a combo convection toaster oven/air fryer. It's got 7 different functions so at least now we can do lots of scratch cooking.

Under normal conditions, I would consider my oven going out a huge blessing. But, now the restaurants are all closed. I am glad you found a replacement to get you by. Is that the kind Emeril Lagasee has been doing the infomercials on?

Sorry to hear that Bill. But now your cooking on a whole other level! Who knows maybe you'll get a dish named after you!

Rook mow the virus down!

Adapt! Improvise! Next you'll be cookin on an open fire.

Ya, that sucks when an appliance goes on strike.....

Our gas oven over had the upper(?) igniter fail. So only had heat coming from one source.
I ordered a replacement from repair clinic (I realize your source will likely vary ,you're in Canada ) , a company I've dealt with repeatedly for repair parts...L.o.l..Cheap , no wait ; thrifty character that I am.

What's up with your oven?

WD,

Not sure lots of different models out there this one is a Cusineart and got good reviews. Probably try it out tomorrow and post up the results.

Bill,
I don't know what tools or skill set you have for something like this. If you are able to isolate the issue, you might be able to order replacement parts. Owners manual might be available on line if original isn't around.
Glad you got alternative back-up for now.

Good morning.

So it has come to my attention that we may be asked to quarantine for a while. I'm like a caged animal if I have to stay home for a week, so I have come up with a solution to remedy this.

I'll dig a Civil War style trench line, and several fox holes in the woods. Problem solved.

You live in the country RR, how can you feel caged there :dontknow:

RC,

Best we can make out it's the bottom element. We thought at first it was either the thermostat or regulator because after 50 minutes the oven only got up to 300 when the setting was for 400. We tried the broiler element at the top of the oven and it was working normal.

In any event it's 17 years old and a store brand....the top burners work ok and we have a barbecue and now the fancy convection toaster oven/air fryer so we're good to go.

it sounds like were you plug the bottom element is just in need of a good spray with a lite cleaner, older stoves kick ass,,can the broiler elemment match up to the bottom element if that element is failing,,,usually once they go its gone...alot of stoves i fix its just build up on the contact surfaces were they plug in

well are church got cancelled till sometime in April.

Same here GB. Good thing is you can talk to God any time any place.
People you will have to just call or contact via internet.
They want us all to stay home. I've been home 2 years, so can use that as a free pass?:laughing7:
I think there's something off about my family...They keep trying to drag me out in public :dontknow: and they keep coming to visit when they say they have the flu...:dontknow: something a little off with that.

You could just start painting dots on your face and the next time they come to visit and you open the door they might just maybe RUN ! :laughing7:

Members of Treasure Net...

I consider you my "online family"... I have had some good times here and learned a variety of things here over the years.

I wanted to just take a moment to say that it has been a pleasure to know all of you.

I am saying this due to the uncertain times that are before us and want you all to know this should any member fall victim to this truly scary epidemic.

Please be smart... stay safe... and try your best to be on the upside of this.

I would hate for us to loose any members to this illness.

I will be on as much as possible during this.

Please check in if possible so we all know everyone is alright out there.

Again... Pleasure to know all of you.

:)

ARC

Lol ya I'll just glue skittles on my face! :laughing7:

Yes my rum chuggers stay safe.
We will be alright, there's enough rum and love aboard this ship to survive anything!

Funny this "internet" is...

Exactly 100 years ago... less than a third of all homes had electricity.

To this. :)

Next we will be teleporting together to go treasure hunting!

ARC,

Well said and given the social distancing the authorities are recommending odds are good that this thread is going to be a prime social outlet for a lot of our members.

I'm a social animal by nature and considering the nature of this virus I started today skipping my stop off for a morning coffee at a local supermarket.

I'm still doing my daily walks to keep from going stir crazy and suggest the rest of the crew also get out for some fresh air and exercise but be safe and keep your face to face contacts to a minimum until we get this beast under control. Amen.
