Good morning everyone. Intense thunderstorms last night. Tons of rain, lightning & thunder.

The yard looks like a salad bowl so I've got some cleanup ahead.

Collected 71 gallons of sap from 31 taps. Good day for the tree production.
Start another boil in the morning.

All the ice disappeared this afternoon.
They say Thursday we have it happen all over again.
Pepperj, do you ever make the maple candies with your sap? Just curious, those were always such a treat but SUPER sweet, little bites!

Actually I haven't made those. I make a soft taffy, that after having 3+ it's a huge sugar rush.🤣
I've heard a few people go WHOA! Sugar rush! Can I have another one- oh they're so good.
A dear friend would almost be on the edge of total blitz. He'd sneak another without his Mrs watchful 👀. 😁

I like making soft candy's. All fruit/maple syrup/butter/cinnamon/pure vanilla.

From start-finish it takes 6+hrs of reduction on the stove.
Then everything happens in the last 90 seconds.
Haskap candy was a treat last month.

Here is a pecan/blueberry one I did a while back.

Wow! That looks delicious! The taffy sounds interesting and can totally understand why seconds are necessary!

These are reasons why we don't go out on the trails during storms.
First greeting was this 15+ft branch

Followed by this lovely reality check.
Right at the first bucket spot.
Twig, branch, a hospital visit I'm sure.
FYI that's a size 13.5 boot

Waiting for permission to take a walk on private property.
Just got it as I was typing 😏
Good luck! I hope you find some keepers.

Wind blowing yesterday with rain, some snow and a couple of hail flurries with temp. in the low 40'sF. Supposed to me more of the same today, but the temp. today is in the mid 50'sF. This is normal northeastern Oregon Spring!

Yep! And on the Oregon coast... High winds, thunder, hail, tons of rain and wicked high surf.... Or as a local that's been here since 1969... southwestern Oregon Spring!!!!

Whale Cove.
The land surrounding Whale Cove on the central Oregon Coast is a safeguarded component of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
The 13.97-acre property in Lincoln County, situated two miles south of Depoe Bay, encloses the oldest marine reserve in Oregon, where all marine life is protected.
The cove is a prime location for spotting whales & sun basking sea lions
The cove offers stunning views from nearby Rocky Creek State Park and US Highway 101.

We stopped there years ago & it is amazing. We also visited Sea Lion Caves which was very cool except the "smell" that smacks you in the face when the elevator doors open!
