Exhausted....... these take a huge toll on ya.
Anxiety being the ratcheted up the most.
Fear... should be self explanatory.
Indecision... have to know when to hold tight or leave.... which is REAL biatch.... for hotels sell out in hours... and then you will be driving at least 2 hours away (normal drive time)... if you wait... then farther and the drive time can double and even triple in length due to bumper to bumper traffic.

If you decide to stay and crap goes wrong your screwed.
So...
All this on your mind constant and your brain is pinballing all this the entire time.

The possibility of it going from "just a storm with blah blah" TO "life changing or worse event"... is a big spread and pure stress.

Its the "not knowing" that is the fuel for all of the above and the absolute worst.
Ok @ARC it's time to break out the camera and take some pictures.

You said it yourself Regarding seeing a picture....
(Just kidding ya)

Glad to hear it's only a bunch of limbs/branches etc.

That stuff is an easy to handle in the big picture.

I was down in Florida at WDW recently. Took this picture at 5:48am on my morning stroll just 9 days ago from where we were staying. I wonder what it looks like this morning.

And not long after Helene was in the Gulf I got to thinking you were staying home.
Which meant committed to staying regardless of what happened.
People hearing your shouts and thinking it's a family member or pet you're crying out for after the hurricane has passed.
Stella! Stella! Where are you?

I dont have the energy... and sure as shit dont know how to get phone picture to THIS place.

I read this and think really is it all worth it?
To repeat this over and over every year.
Every place has weather events and most are minor.

Then there's places that they're life changing.
It's a stress that I can do without.

Yes we get the cold/snow/and mild blows.
50 mph gusts are rare here.
Well its not every year... but they have become more frequent AND stronger... so it is becoming more.
But today is gorgeous... if it weren't for fallen trees... limbs and debris you would not even know it happened in my neighborhood.... BUT 1 mile to my west those folks cannot say the same.

There are areas in Florida that rarely if ever get hit... and mid state your good.

Foster brother is from S.E. Asia.
Moved to Florida a while back.
I joked with my sisters last we were together that he neglected to inform me as to his new whereabouts , lest I show up with a suitcase..

Anyways.
First song I recall him learning on guitar.
And yes he knew of rain from the rainy seasons of his youth.
(I'm resisting texting him some lyrics.)

Rub it in lol
Our little hole in the wall.
To the south I have a granite hill that's 240 higher, to the east we have 50 ft to the shop-300 ft away. Then there's the hillside to the west for protection.
Also the 2 islands in the photo knocks the winds down.
It's really hard for the bay to get a white cap.
A jet ski creates bigger waves 🤣
