Ha. You guys know we are moving in the next month.
Got a message from the real estate that there will be an inspection tomorrow.
Me and my wife got the flu here. Its a small town, no postal delivery. Meaning every single person here has to go in person to get the mail from the post office. Its actually worse in our little town that way catching things than bigger towns with delivery. I don't care.
Real estate "hi can we do a walk through tomorrow for potential buyers?"
Me "yeah, ok, but so you know we have got the flu here and just letting you know for the potential buyers before hand".
Real estate"oh, how sick are you? Very sick, a bit sick?"
Me "we have the flu, just letting you know"
Real estate "ok ill give out masks to everyone is that ok?"
Me "yeah ok, but so you know, me and my wife, this is our home still and we are not going to be in our own home even though its not our house and wear masks for anyone. But you are all welcome here to wear masks but we will not"

Reply...."iv cancelled the inspection".
😂😂
We really both have the flu and were expected to be sitting in our rent home paying $300 a week wearing masks like leppers.
Get outa here idiots.

As soon as i signed off last night i went and laid down was about to drift off when all of a sudden a loud thud and roll on roof... dont know wtf that was yet... i assume a branch or something.
Going to be crazy outside ...
SO MANY without power and will be.
We were very lucky and kept power... we happen to be off a main line it seems... so we lose power very infrequently... BUT... last smaller storm we did lose it for half a day ... but that storm was nothing to this.
Go figure.

Good to hear that you maintained power through the storm.
You must be on a different feeder( power line) than others.

We often keep power even when others loose theirs around the area.
Just happens that we are supplied by a different line into the hamlet.
Also when an area looses power they'll clean up the trees that might be a problem in the future.
Hydro has introduced a 3 year rotation where they trim all the trees near the lines.
Results are very few outages now compared to what it was a decade ago even.

Let's hope that's all it was.

Glad to hear you're OK, and actually glad you still have power and internet to let us know. If morning came and we didn't hear from you, we'd have been pretty worried.

Just came back in from a prelim inspection outside using my bad ass floodlight...

Limbs down... crap everywhere... and yes.... the "thud" was a piece of small branch trunk from old rotted something...
was 15 inches long x 4 inches round... with twigs off it. (enough to seriously hurt ya or worse if hit ya in head)
Hope no hole has been made... will have to break out ladder and go inspect when light out.

Biggest branch was oak tree... 15 foot long.... 6-8 inches at trunk.... smashed ornamental plants and other stuff... took out an outside wash basin and just missed my large clay chiminea.

Exhausted....... these take a huge toll on ya.
Anxiety being the ratcheted up the most.
Fear... should be self explanatory.
Indecision... have to know when to hold tight or leave.... which is REAL biatch.... for hotels sell out in hours... and then you will be driving at least 2 hours away (normal drive time)... if you wait... then farther and the drive time can double and even triple in length due to bumper to bumper traffic.

If you decide to stay and crap goes wrong your screwed.
So...
All this on your mind constant and your brain is pinballing all this the entire time.

The possibility of it going from "just a storm with blah blah" TO "life changing or worse event"... is a big spread and pure stress.

Its the "not knowing" that is the fuel for all of the above and the absolute worst.

I read this and think really is it all worth it?
To repeat this over and over every year.
Every place has weather events and most are minor.

Then there's places that they're life changing.
It's a stress that I can do without.

Yes we get the cold/snow/and mild blows.
50 mph gusts are rare here.
