Unfortunately with such a short window this will have to be a long term project. I have secured and have people now trying to secure many more permissions. The best will be a 56 acre permission next to an actual battle site. IIhave over 1000 acres open to me now all around here, and to tell you the truth these folks could care less about what im doing. Hunting here is incredible, and I saw great deer from the tree stand every evening......the little porkers were out smarting me and eating all my corn at midnight, so i did not fire a shot.....never saw the little piggies!!
Pigs catch on fast. And adapt.

Water for summer Civil War sign.
If entrenched , the military crest of higher ground , at least for watching from by sentries.
Horse grazing during "safe" times night camps.
Let me know I ever tell you something you don't know. L.o.l...

Supposed to be 51 degrees F. (11 C.) here today. Rare for February. I’m going to get my new simplex out and try again. So far: 1 rusty modern nail, a piece of wire and a rusted hunk of iron strap. Hopefully something a little cooler today. Not the fault of the machine; location, location, location!
Up-date: I found something on every hit this time. A carriage bolt, misc fence wire, a square nail and some rusty tin. But that’s what was there. The machine works good, except one issue. Won’t go into it on this format.

@Blackfoot58 I'm standing on ground next to this 1838 church that was just clear cut of pinetrees. the entire field around this church was torn up....about 2 acres. I'm standing on the edge of the church property looking in. This part of the property was pines about a week ago.

Just spent 5 hours pounding a school location from 1864 and came up with a large chunk of square metal that reads 18 on the nox. That’s it. And some occasional copper looking green tube pieces I hate those. No buttons, no coins, no nothing. Pretty bummed out 😞

Was using field 2 on recovery speed 1, with F2 on 3. I dug every consistent signal and it was all junk.

Sounds a lot like where I’ve been lately. Even on non-ferrous numbers, I find iron. I just have a knack for it I guess.

Spent about 10 months down in that area a couple of years ago.
we go to rockport fairly often - this was our first time on the island since Harvey - it's grown up so much it's ridiculous - shipping traffic was busy - our ferry had to wait on big ships and a barge on and off - whooping crane festival was going on - we saw some by the big tree at goose island state park

Rockport is where my apartment was. We spent as much time as possible on the beaches, hell that’s where the detecting bug bit me! Didn’t find much other than pull tabs and junk from people camping on the beaches. Beautiful area down there.
