Not sure but believe malwarebytes have a free version you can download.
Hopefully that can get rid of your adware problem.

This adware (guce.advertising) has attached to my AOL homepage preventing me from accessing my emails, and resists all removal options so far.
AOL does appear to be its main area of activity, and it comes hidden in an email or posted link.
I ran the McAfee full 6hr scan, Clean, No viruses, deleted all cookies and is still there.
This is insidious.

I found this. I hope it helps.

To remove Guce Advertising:

• Click on the upper right corner of your browser.
• Go to Add-ons => Extensions.
• Look for Guce Advertising and any other suspicious items.
• Click and remove Guce Advertising and all other potentially unsafe extensions (add-ons).
