Much of what goes on has to be taciturn. It's all good to announce where certain fish are being caught and how , until you're getting bumped by other boats and your lines getting run over.Seems like treasurenet is fading out these days.....not to much happening on this site these days. Seems that it's the heart of winter, and everything has ground to a halt. Half the threads aren't even about treasure, and the other half are always complaining, bitching, or arguing about nonsense.....is it me or does anyone else see this happening......maybe I'm just sick and grumpy 😠 !!
I know it's a poor analogy , but it's competitive at times. And on certain leads or ground one competitor getting one tiny bit of data or intel can be the last puzzle piece they need.
T-Net used to "crackle" in the late evenings. Sure there was fun B.S.'n.
But in between were some stimulating posts of places and people and varied treasures (including those people and places..) tied to hunting by folks gone now. Not gone to other sites on the internet. But gone from being able to use the internet.
While along comes recruits starting out.
On very different terms. Not only thier personal terms , but of terms of access or more often denied access to sites.
The "Uncle" that introduced me to detecting I've mentioned often. Too often.
Complex character when the great good he did for museum and society and history is considered. His writings and a foundation remain.
As do labors in restoring some old sites.
But it was a different time.
Retired he'd still wear his badge and detect where he pleased. "Looking for lines" or similar reason if (seldom) questioned.
Maybe I'm too similar but posting certain activity I won't do. Even on the solid up and up sworn testimony from two nuns and a priest and apology to anyone offended that no blade of grass , worm or crumb of soil or drop of water was injured.
Having been told the tale of certain relics , the hunt for them and the tidbit that put two rivals on a certain long awaited X at the same time by Uncle ;then finding someone ahead of me one time.....It's not the same as encouraging others to jump in.
The basics , getting started , a question of suggestion type stuff , sure. But I'm not going to excite anyone with my doings. As if they were exciting to many anyways.
My being here anymore is to say hi to acquaintances online. Not all misfits , those being the interesting ones I applaud.) And to check for that "crackle". I won't find it again. The source is gone.
Some static yes. Like was done in the far North evenings as the radio played out to static and odd sounds some folks claimed were the elders that passed on.
Not out there making recoveries and not divulging prior ones of any earth shaking caliber, why am I here?
I tell myself I'd save time by not being here. Time for other sites or activities I'm more vested in while waiting for prime spring time window hunts. One still on the back burner with years of being in queue. Something dark and sad caused the folks to leave there. That today might be why I leave it alone. In the past I'd have been done combing the site the first year it was located where nothing shows.
Guess it's similar to the vicarious views all around I scroll through quickly after posting on the chat thread keeps me around briefly.
Which bugs me as I never cared for being vicarious before getting a big anchor attached to my mobility. Watch someone or thier results instead of doing it myself or on my terms? That used to be a crazy idea.
I do participate in things that relate much more to a local nondetecting site. Though detecting is discussed at times. T-Net is a quick look at the backtrail and a wave at acquaintances on the chat.
I'd get banned here if recoveries (let alone honking ones posted consistently was a requirement.
