Have to be a member of META to view. sad really-but not going down road.
Post up any pictures if there are any-pretty please.

I need to think of a movable platform/pads/walk board to get out into mire to detect and probe.
Along the shore in low water season I've dug 3 piece molds, turn molds, medicines, and the broken glass is thick.

So I'd like to probe out into the further areas from shore.
Even in the summer one can sink into this black mire up to 18 inches.
Since there's so many shards it would be a sure way of getting a sliced up foot.
Sort of a version of Canadian mud larking-without the ability of eyeballing the finds. :laughing7:

The worse that could happen is falling off something and getting wet/muddy-YUKKY

Thinking I wonder how big 4" ridged SM foam board would have to be to support me on the mire without sinking?

So if this was your foreshore and the little treasures were lurking out there in the mire-how would another pirate approach this?
History of the area early warehouse on shore mid 1800's signs of stone cribbing and steel rods from past dock/wharf.
Steam wheelers/barges used to dock here and load/unload the cargo for the area commence.

You're on the right track with the weight displacement theory.

Snow shoes , water skis. A moose's foot. Tracked heavy equipment.
Not holding the mud /sludge would factor in success.
Annd having an extraction plan should you find a pocket of quicksand!

Being in 125ft on the backside of the point, and 700ft from the dam the current is on the other side of the bay.
So makes this divot a natural dumping ground for leaves, floating sticks.
Yes a lanyard to the shore tree wouldn't be a bad thought.
Thanks for the expansion of thinking.
I have a 8ft spoon shovel for drains.
Also long handled scratchers.
Did many years of muskeg bottle digging, but the ground was pretty stable around the townsite.
Liking the thought of large foot print wear.

Morning John
Hope you can have a lead thingy retrieval day yourself. 😁
I unfortunately already had a lead thingy retrieval yesterday several of them. My lead thingies were though in the fishing weights thingies. I found like four of them for some reason they are all over this property look like older ones. Dug up over the few days like 100 coins quarters, nickels, dimes, pennies nothing all that old besides two wheat pennies and those were just the 50s and the Canadian penny. Found a stainless steel clever, a two hammers, a few hot wheels cars, a older toy car like 1920s or 1930s but destroyed it on accident with the shovel, a couple junk rings, and about 50 pounds of junk.

Well done on getting your own lead thingy.
Cleaning the property one find at a time.
Hope you got some moisture after the weather event.

Lots of moisture. The ground here went from being like digging through a rock to digging in butter. The ground will now be easy to dig for a long time. Though on this particular property I think I've found what there is to be found.

Never say never.
